IMHO 3.4m for FJ cruiser is a rip off., punta ako libis nakita ko yung unit, nothing spectacular, <$25k is almost the price range of RAV4 in the US dito 1.8M yung RAV4(though parang over priced pa nga). i'll rather get RX330, almost same price sa gray market.

The grill, round headlights and white roof looks similar to the old FJ Landcruiser... I just wish they made the front overhang shorter, because its nose reminds me of the Ssangyong Korando.

Monster Cars near Wilson st. in San Juan also sells the FJ Cruiser along with the Hummer H3 and Chevy HHR retro wagon.

I wish they made it more Jeep-like, just like the original FJ.
    FJ40 Landcruiser...

Actually it's not a <$25k SUV. It does start around $21K, but that is a 2wd model with no options at all. 4WD models start around $23K base model. The advertised price range on the internet is wrong. It does say between 21K and 23K, but when you actually walk to the dealerships it's not even close to those prices. Base models don't have options at all. No rear locking differentials, no active traction, no alarm and so on. I paid $34k for a part time 4wd with taxes and additional options. Mine included roof rack, skid plate, trd tip exhaust, A-TRAC(Active traction), rear differential lock, side air bags plus other dealership extra crap...

There has also been a confusion here. It is not just based on the 4runner. The frame is actually a shortened Toyota Prado. The engine though is shared with the 4-runners and the Toyota Tacomas.

Leg room at the back seat is not actually bad. I've had a 6 ft person that sat there and even said that it was comfortable. The FJ is fun to drive on road and off road. For 4000 lb vehicle, it does not feel sluggish at all. Thanks to the 239 HP V6 engine. As much as I love driving this vehicle, there are also down sides. There are a lot of blind spots. Mirrors on the front block some view when you are turning left. The pillars right behind the rear doors are blocking the view of the vehicles coming from the right side. Most of the interior are made of plastic which scratch off easily. The good thing about this is that it cleans off easily though. Stock speakers are cheap.

This is vehicle is very fun to drive. I do not recommend it though as a primary family vehicle because of the rear door access. The front doors must be opened first before the rear doors can be opened. It can be an inconvenience if you have passengers at the back all the time. It does handle great on and off road. I do have a minor alingment issue due to the front IFS being sensitive to the road. Dash controls are very convenient. They are well organized. All the controls, including stereo, AC, defogger are within an arms reach. You don't have to lean forward to get to it.

You have to take it off roading to maximize its full potential. Kung nanghihinayang ka, just be careful or just take it to light trails. It is very capable at its "STOCK" configuration. I do agree that the price in the PH for the FJ is too expensive. But hey, someone has to make money. I am pretty sure it wasnt cheap getting it to PH in the first place.

Anyways, I am attaching pix of my FJ and a TRD Edition that just came out.

Nice FJ you got there man! I'm sure you got that as your toy.

Anyway, with that price tag here, I'd rather settle for a LC105 as my toy.

Actually the Toyota Prado, Lexus GX470, 4Runner and FJ share the same platform/frame. That is also the same reason why when it came out it had extensive support from the off road community in the US aftermarket.

Thank you for the expanation regarding the pricing.

I only saw my first one last month when I was in USA. I must admit that I fell in love with it's funky 'mini-hummer' styling and I was excited when I saw the internet prices of US$23K.
Imagine then my complete dissappointment when I saw prices in Philippines of around 3 MILLION.
This is a complete rip off. Even with the US$34 of your specification vehicle Php 3M is still a rip off.
I'd be interested in hearing how this figure is arrived at from a Toyota dealer, but I guess they would be too ashamed to even attempt to explain.

Pwede na yung Korando. hehehe. Medyo mahal pa din for the local market but nowhere near Php3M. Diesel powered to boot.

Fully restored LC40's are way expensive but worth it if you're an enthusiast. BJ's are diesel, FJ's are gasoline.

Maybe Toyota doesn't really see a market for the FJ here.

They already have the Fortuner for the same market in the Philippines. The white roof on the FJ makes it look like it has a helmet and the blue really realy reminds me of the smurfs cartoon. Toyota should have just brought the Fortuner with the 4L V6 to the US instead of this thing or made a true FJ similar to the FJ40. Also since this is based on the 4runner it may have the same quality problems that the current 4runner has been having according to the 4runner forums.

According sa carr and driver magazine na lumabas dito sa us para ka daw nakakulong sa likod nyan pag umupo ka kasi not enough leg room at kitang kita mo naman na maliit talaga ang likod nyan.

I asked Toyota Pasong Tamo and they told me that they haven't brought the FJ Cruiser in locally. I guess it can eat up into their sales of the Prado. Worse, it might flop considering that it doesn't have that much visual appeal to buyers other than the true 4x4 enthusiasts.

I think if you read magazine publications the FJ Cruiser was only intended for the US market...

mahal niya masyado, costs around 3.5 million, not worth the price... besides masikip yung 3rd row seat niya, mas sulit kung LC100 na lang kunin niyo.

In the US, the price is just a bit slightly more expensive than the RAV4
