Actually and the fact is... Honda, Nissan and Toyota consistently gain market share when Chrysler, Ford and General Motors decrease their incentive spending. Kung pare-parehas ang incentive, malamang bukas lang nasa top 3 na ang Toyota

that's the US only. also, that big news last year about Toyota landing on no.2 slot globally is wrong. Toyota revised its fugures from 6.78 million vehicles to 6.48M. Ford sold 6.72 million vehicles in 2003.
maybe i can find the 2004 global sales figures somewhere.

But still, there's no denying Toyota is huge... Are Ford's figures for Ford only, or do they include Mazda-Volvo-Jaguar?

eureka! i found it. wonder why the media has not made a big deal about this, but Toyota outsold Ford heftily last year (2004). sales number for Ford include Volvo,Mazda,Aston Martin,Lincoln,Mercury,Land Rover and Jaguar.
Toyota's include Lexus,Scion,Hino and Daihatsu:

2004 worldwide sales:

Ford----- 6.80 million
Toyota-- 7.55 million

besides mazda, does Ford's figure include lincoln, volvo, jaguar, land rover, and the umpteen other brands in its corporate stable?

regardless though, toyota really is a better, more disciplined, more efficient, and more profitable (no rebates or incentives in north america!) manufacturer than ford or GM. overtaking those two is probably not a matter of if, but when, whew!

Depends... The American automakers aren't rolling over and playing dead yet. And they're starting to get really serious about globalization (beyond just BUYING foreign carmakers).
