4AGE 20v silver top with tranny would cost around P40K to P50k with installation from the last time I was asking around.

Does this mean kumpleto na itong conversion na 'to for that budget (Engine, ECU, Installation)?

Mas malakas ba sa gas 'to kumapara sa 1.6 carb engine ng GL (AE92)? How about shops na marunong mag tune up nito? Marami bang vailable na ganitong engine?

I'm a bit confused. Isn't the 97 XL still the big body (like a carabao) that came out 93-97?

Pros:
Tipid sa gas, basta well maintained yung engine.
Very basic ang maintenance kasi walang mga electronic stuff like alarm, power windows, power locks, power mirrors.
Daming piyesa.

Cons:
Pawis steering.
No convenience items like power doors and windows. Pero ok lang din naman if you just need a ride to get you from point A to B.
Manual Tranny could be a con in bad traffic.

Wag lang yun tipong nalaspag habang taxi.

yep, 97 Corollas are usually still the AE101.

late92-97 models eto. some can still be acquired in early 98s, atleast the XL models.

yung neighbor namin dati, bumili ng 98 XL pero AE101 kase nadismaya sya sa itsura ng AE111...tsaka masikip daw.

we used to have a AE101,

i recall na meron ngang coinholder and a plastic cover in the center console.
sorry wala akong pic.
