Best to bring your car to the shop to have it checked.

DON'T go to Rapide unless you want your wallet raped and your car still not fixed.

Since you are from Mandaluyong, I would suggest SPEEDYFIX. They can check your engine and suggest to you what needs to be done.

Have a compression test done (dry and wet) as this will tell you whether it needs an overhaul and what parts exactly are the culprit. Ask the shop for the list of parts and buy it yourself from Banawe at shops like Toyorama and NGK. Itll come out cheaper then getting parts from the shop.

While you're at it, have the shop also do the following since you just bought the car:
    - change your timing belt, its bearings (use the Koyo brand of bearings, same as OEM) and water pump.
    - change all your fluids (brake, engine oil, transmission, power steering, coolant)
    - change all your filters (air, fuel)
    - tune-up the engine (adjust valve tappets, timing)
    - clean and tune the carburator
    - clean the brakes
    - check the suspension for any problems
    - check that you electrical system is running okay and charging properly.

Its an old car so you really have to cover a lot of ground to ensure its running reliably so as not to inconvenience you and your fellow motorists.
