However, one thing I noticed is that the Altis' speedometer is WAY off. 100 kph on the speedometer is just 93 kph on my GPS. My tires are already slightly bigger than stock (by about 1%) but there's still a huge discrepancy.

No wonder the Altis videos on the internet all have very quick 0-100 times. It's more like 0-93 than 0-100.
It's really conservative, but what your gauge is displaying is within OEM acceptable limits.
My limit on the expressways is 105-110kph on the speedometer if I want to stay within 100kph limit of the expressways.

Table below shows the actual speed (left side) as read directly through the OBD port by a Toyota Tech Stream/GTS diagnostic tool doing active test VS the acceptable speed display on the speedometer(right).

    Vehicle Speed
Table 1. For reference, km / hour
Screen Displays GTS (km / h) - The range of acceptable values (km / h)
    20 --------------------------------- 21.2 - 25.2
    40 --------------------------------- 42.2 - 46.7
    60 --------------------------------- 63.5 - 68.0
    80 --------------------------------- 84.6 - 89.6
    100 --------------------------------105.8 - 110.8
    120 ------------------------------- 126.9 - 132.4
    140 ------------------------------- 147.9 - 153.9
    160 ------------------------------- 168.6 - 175.6
    180 ------------------------------- 189.6 - 197.2
    200 ------------------------------- 210.8 - 218.8
    220 ------------------------------- 231.8 - 240.2

Thanks for this bro, really informative table. Quite frustrating though, as this is probably the most conservative speedometer among all the cars I've driven.

I myself wouldn't get a black unless I have a helper who would clean my car regularly at par with my standards.
Current car is a silver... weheheh.

Sir Jepoy, supposedly those specs should fit. AFAIK, pwede +35 to +50 offset.

+35 sakto po pa nga sa fender yun, and I already saw a "hellaflushed" 11th-gen with severe negative offsets running in Edsa a couple of months ago.

After 5 days of city driving and 122 km traveled - my first FC reading is 7.0 km/L.

Let's see how much it improves over the coming weeks. Right now, FC reading from highway driving (100-140 kph) is 15.2 km/L. Will validate this with a full tank maybe tomorrow.

I guess city driving will always yield about 7-9KM/L regardless of the car.

Stuck in traffic = 0KM/L hehehehe

This is true for most cars. Although the spread from 7-9 km/L is quite huge. At 1,200 km a month, 9 km/L saves you P1,700 per month versus 7 km/L

That said, navigating 40KM worth of city driving every day for 30 days will kill me.

EDSA end to end is less than 20KM siguro hahaha (and will take about 2 hours every day one way pag rush hour :O)

Yung FD namin does 7.5-8KM/L with an average speed of about 10-15KPH. Not sure what other car figures are for this kind of speed.

I do Taguig to Commonwealth via C5 and vice versa every working day so medyo going against the traffic ako. My 1.5 3 averages 9.5 L/100 km (10.5 km/L) based on the trip computer. When I drove my wife to and from Makati for a week because her car was in the shop it dropped to around 7 km/L which is similar to what her Vios 1.3 AT gets. Traffic is the big equalizer.

235/40 R18 is okay only if you drop. With stock ride height, it'll look like an XV already hehe.

225/40 R18. Actually, 235/40 is okay also depending on the rims. Try fitting them on to be sure.

Ride quality and FC will be the same for 225/40, 225/45, and 235/40. Those are all roughly the same size with just a few percent variance between them.

I recently drove my Altis back to back with a stock Altis with 16" rims, potholes are much more pronounced with the 18" rims. Handling and steering feel is better though, so it's not all bad when you upgrade. [emoji4]
