bro, correct me if I'm wrong here pls, I read somewhere in other threads that you mentioned all gasoline in pinas are same quality regardless either petron, shell, unioil etc... pagka-understand ko for example sa bottled water pareho lang yan tubig kahit pa ano pang brand nito. Hehe

Good morning sirs! Ask ko lang for those who do full tank fillups, when do you gas up? As soon as the low gas warning lights up, or do you rely on the cruising range distance? If the latter, sinasagad nyo ba til 10 or below before you fill up? TIA

I usually fill up in between city/highway travel - that is, right before I enter NLEX, I fill up. Then right when I get back to Manila, I fill up. That way, I get to separate my FC records of city and highway driving.

As to how low you can go, I've driven until the needle was past the E mark already, and on the Vios that was just 36 out of 42L, while on the Altis that was 47 out of 55L. Most extreme case was with my Ranger when I went from Daet to Naga (100 km) with the gauge at E and cruising range at 0. When I filled up it was 74 out of 80L. No particular reason why I do this, it's just that I try to keep the city/highway FC separated and sometimes it depletes my fuel to really low levels before I get to fill up.

Yes bro totoo yan. But if I had to make a bet on which brands have the most consistent quality, I'd pick the 3 multinationals. Just as if I were buying bottled water, I'd usually pick Wilkins or Absolute out of preference, but any will be okay if I didn't have a choice since they're just the same.

Although I'm quite curious why a seemingly significant number of guys here in the forums are experiencing knocking with Petron.

Good morning ma'am Cathy! Is there any particular reason why you don't let it go below half? Follow up question is - is it unhealthy or bad practice to wait for the warning light before gassing up?

Just my preference. Usually I fill up every weekend even if it is still above 1/2.

I promised God I will not go below 1/2 if He lets me get home without any problems May Dad and Mom practice the same (full tank when it reaches 1/2)

Objectively speaking, God had nothing to do with it. When the warning light flashes, you still have about 10L remaining, depending on the car. At 8 km/L, that's still 80 km, and it's unlikely that there won't be a gas station in the next 80 km.

If you want, you could thank God for giving the engineers enough foresight and preferring to err on the side of caution. [emoji13]

bro jut, maraming magtatampo sayo nyan lalo na yung mga tumatanggap ng awards na sa kanilang speech, thank god muna sila bago ang ibang tao. don't you think we pinoys are kinda hypocrite to say we thank god first at the top of our lungs not only receiving an awards but on other occasions as well ? I don't see it in other religious countries? hmm maybe only in the phil

Not really as long as you refuel at reputable and clean (tank storage) fuel stations. Prefer to let it go near empty but not yet warning light before refueling. This way you get fresh, undiluted fuel.

Hehe

The physical appearance of a station isn't an automatic indicator of how they maintain their tanks, but it's probably your best bet. It's just that there are stations that are newly renovated but still have 20 year old tanks, or stations that have been refurbished, but with dealers who still don't practice wetstock management.

In Metro Manila, you're safe filling up pretty much everywhere since almost all of the stations of the majors are company-owned, and therefore have stricter operational standards. Some stations that have been submerged in floods will inadvertently have water seeping their tanks, but since Ondoy we've taken more precautions in ensuring cam locks are water-sealed for any eventuality.

In the province, try to fill up just in decent-look stations in the bigger towns, since its hard to tell for an ordinary consumer which stations are okay and which aren't.

Price on the other hand, is not a factor. Prices in Fairview are lower than elsewhere in Manila, but the fuel sold there is the same as everywhere else. Just happens to be a price-war area.

maybe its only a coincidence they gassing up petron but did not realize the the spark plugs need to be cleaned/replaced or maybe the electronic ignition coils are not distributing enough current to S. plugs and needs to be replaced as well etc.... anything is possible...

This is true. humanap kayo ng gasoline stations na magkakatabi, dyan mura kadalasan. if mag isa yung gasoline station at walang competitor kadalasan .50 cents to 1 peso ang dagdag.

May nakita ako na shell sa cubao, New York ave mas mura by a few cents lang. Thanks for the info!
