Bro, anong year model meron tig-500k na CRV. I opted for a brandnew dahil iba talaga pag ikaw ang naka-una. My other car was almost brand new when I bought it (1 month pa lang sa original owner) and wala akong naging major na problema for 5 years ko na gamit.
:Off-Topic2:
It is inevitable for a prospective car buyer to face that dilemma: brand new lower end/variant type of vehicle vs 2nd (3rd or nth) hand na higher end. Sa akin lang, case to case basis yan. Kasama kasi sa binabayaran dyan eh hindi lang un first-time na paggamit, pero pati ung security and peace of mind: there is less probability that a brand new unit will bring you problems sa maintenance, gas etc.
If you think of budget, in the long run i think they will even out. the 2nd-hand car may come in cheaper at face value but in general, masmalaki ang magagastos sa maintenance/fuel consumption expenses for 2nd hand owners kesa sa brand new owners in the coming years. In terms of resale value, holding all things constant, I'm not sure on this pero I think you can still command a higher nominal price for the brand new unit compared to a much older unit (siguro depende rin kung ano ang mas indemand tska sa mileage). 3 yrs old - 75%; 5 yrs old - 50% of orig price na lang ba?
But a friend of mine said na, think of it this way: the difference bet. a brand new unit and a 2nd-hand one is what you actually need to pay for a worry-free (less worry) ride for the next 3-5 years - not only for you but for those who will ride with you. Parang masusulit mo ang brand new if u have it with u in its first 5 years. Kaya balak ko, on the fifth year, benta ko na rin and buy another brand new one.
But don't get me wrong, If you chance upon a really good find kahit di brand new, by all means, bilhin mo na. hehe.
can you guys post the latest price of avanza and its different variants?

btw, 2nd fc computation ko: 12 km/L (that covers my trip from tarlac back to manila and 2 days city driving.
SUVs (as in the case, a CR-V) will retain a much higher resale value as compared to MPVs / AUVs or sedans. Take for example the 1st gen Rav4, it came out priced almost the same as the Camry but currently its resale value is 50-75% better than the latter.
This only applies to those who are a bit lazy when it comes to proper vehicle maintenance. I've seen 10-year old vehicles in better condition than some 2-year old vehicles out there.Originally Posted by pablo_neruda

mazdamazda, thnx for your inputs. related question on this: between an avanza (mpv) and a vios (sedan of variant with same/comparable price as of this writing), sa tingin nyo fellow tsikoteers, which one will have a higher resale value and why? Isa rin yan sa mga pinagisipan ko dati. i guess it's water under the bridge dahil nabili ko na avanza. hehe. no regrets. but just the same, tanong ko na rin for discussion purposes.
No offense to you owner of Avansa. Lets just put it this way, we have different taste and opinions, and in the end we choose what our heart and mind decides. I'm just one giving insights based on my scrutiny of these vehicles and I have to speak freely para walang tinatago.
The resale value of car varies from brand and model of car. Example is that CRV's resale value is higher than Hyundai Tucson. However for a brand new car it depreciate fast by a hundred thousand the moment it lands on its first owner, then another hundred thousand year after year. The price will stabilize at 50% when it reached 5 years onwards.
So yung first generation ng CRV especially if its seldom used and casa maintained, I guess it would be a good buy rather than a new Avansa, given the CRV's comfortable ride, excellent interior materials, 4 wheel drive option, and more stable price at more than 5 years old.
Toyota should do away with the "entry level" concept since people do have the option of buying quality second-hand cars as for the first time buyers. I think they intend to make figures in their sales, but are flocking our roads with these cars and I wonder if our government is up to the task in building more roads and able to cope up with traffic in the next 10 years.![]()
Well since may Avansa ka na pala, I guess too late for this opinion. Congrats and enjoy your new ride nalang.
parang namamahalan na ako. sa new starex kasi sa 1.2M CRDi na, 9-seater na, 50k discount + Widescreen LCD TV + DVD system pa. and of course, all the perks like airbag, abs, immobilizer, Ipod-ready HU.
am still undecided between this and Starex GRX
I couldn't agree with you more. That's why sinabi ko na case to case basis yan and if you think you really chanced upon a good find, grab it. We really have different taste and opinions. In the same light, we also have different levels of competence in car matters. Admittedly, i'm a novice here. hehe.i personally think healthy and constructive naman un ganitong exchange of thoughts and ideas. Kaya i really appreciate your expounding on your thoughts (and also thanks to mazdamazda on his related post), dahil naenlighten ako talaga sa mga punto ninyo. ika nga walang personalan. hehehe. sorry ot.
nag full tank ako kanina 12km/L ang nakunsumo ko, ganun din usually 2 lang kami san pedro to bagong ilog pasig, weekend san pedro to alabang vice versa. Tomorrow masusubukan ko na konsumo ng 1.3J pag loaded 5 adult 4 tsikiting (ages 10,8,8 & 4) going to san juan batangas, with matching konting bagahe pang overnight.
