[SIZE=3]Subject : Ways to GET a BETTER Mileage on the GAS PUMPS and save $$$$$$$$$$$$$[/SIZE]

[SIZE=2][SIZE=3]Pumping gas.... good things to know.[/SIZE] [/SIZE][SIZE=2]I've been in petroleum pipeline business for about 31 years, currently working for the Kinder-Morgan Pipeline here in San Jose, CA. We deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period from the pipe line; one day it's diesel, the next day it's jet fuel and gasoline. We have 34 storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons. Here are some tricks to help you get your money's worth: [/SIZE]

[SIZE=2]1. Fill up your car or truck in the morning when the temperature is still cool. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground; and the colder the ground, the denser the gasoline. When it gets warmer gasoline expands, so if you're filling up in the afternoon or in the evening, what should be a gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and temperature of the fuel (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products) are significant. Every truckload that we load is temperature-compensated so that the indicated gallonage is actually the amount pumped. A one-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for businesses, but service stations don't have temperature compensation at their pumps. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=2]2. If a tanker truck is filling the station's tank at the time you want to buy gas, do not fill up; most likely dirt and sludge in the tank is being stirred up when gas is being delivered, and you might be transferring that dirt from the bottom of their tank into your car's tank. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=2]3. Fill up when your gas tank is half-full (or half-empty), because the more gas you have in your tank the less air there is and gasoline evaporates rapidly, especially when it's warm. (Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating 'roof' membrane to act as a barrier between the gas and the atmosphere, thereby minimizing evaporation.) [/SIZE]

[SIZE=2]4. If you look at the trigger you'll see that it has three delivery settings: slow, medium and high. When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to the high setting. You should be pumping at the slow setting, thereby minimizing vapors created while you are pumping. Hoses at the pump are corrugated; the corrugations act as a return path for vapor recovery from gas that already has been metered. If you are pumping at the high setting, the agitated gasoline contains more vapor, which is being sucked back into the underground tank, so you're getting less gas for your money. Hope this will help ease your 'pain at the pump' [/SIZE]

Hi mcjoen, tinitingnan ko ulit ang photo na inattach mo, i assume Type J din ang Avanza mo because of the interior color. Sa Type J lang kaya ang ganitong problem?

instech, Yes J ang unit ko. Got mine late July pa, 2 na tayong J at isang G si Jem's99. Kapag nakabalik ng showroom tignan ko yung unit nila dun.

Sa akin close to 6 weeks bago nagka-plate, LTO sa Las Pinas.

Sa aking sa right rear door lang maganit. isasama ko na rin pagbalik ko sa Toyota. Ito yung hinge na sinasabi mo, parang may kalawang nga but not sure saan nagmumula sa loob ng door.

ha ha ha.... super safe ang sasakyan ko nadagdagan sya ng safety feature like anti theft.... may ground sya he he he.... bakit ganun? may ground pag nagbukas ako ng pinto coming from inside hahawak ako sa pinto magugulat ako may ground.... ano kaya may kinalaman sa climate natin kc malamig.. alam ko isang factor ang environment o need ko pa check ang wirings baka may mga talop talop na nadidikit sa body ng sasakyan ko.. cool di ba?

i requested for special plate number, thinking that the release of plate will be faster than the usual. Hmmmm... anyway, oks lang. Intay intay muna.....

Inilabas pa naman ng casa sa kanilang parking lot ang unit one day before ko kinuha para ma-inspect ko. I really took time to look at the whole vehicle lalo na iyung mga napag-usapan sa forum na ito na possible defects like seats that were not locking into place at floor carpet na umuusli. Okay naman lahat and I even listed the conduction sticker no. para alam ko iyun talaga ang pinakita sa akin pag kinuha ko na ang unit. I must have missed talaga iyung nasa ilalim ng steering wheel na plastic part na iyon. I don't recall looking at that area kasi. Nakita ko na lang nung naglilinis na ako ng Avanza. Very minor lang naman pero mas maganda kung mabigyan ng action ng Toyota ang concern natin. Please balitaan mo ako kung ano ang nangyari pag dinala mo na sa Toyota. I think mas mauuna pa ikaw sa akin makapagdala sa casa. Sa February ko pa kasi madadala sa casa ang unit ko for 1K km checkup. 700+ km pa lang mileage ng sa akin. Out of the country kasi ako ngayon. Naka-park lang sa bahay ang Avanza ko. Thanks a lot mcjoen. Jem's 99, baka mapatingnan din niyo ang unit ninyo, please feedback naman kung ano ang result. Thank you ulit.

me napanood ata ako noon sa mythbuster, na-confirm nila that a soft drink cola is a a good cleaner of chrome platings.

talaga!? marami ko nyan tira2 sa basyo. hehehe! di kaya maging acidic yong chrome? anyway, thanks for your reply. i know me magrereact naman dito if it would be harmful.

dati kung ano car wax yun din gamit ko sa chrome lalo na dun sa blings. kaso halos every week kailangan kung apply. plus meron maliliit na yellow spots na d ko maalis. so canvass ako maganda chrome cleaner. right now, im using turtle wax chrome cleaner. highly satisfied ako. super kintab ng mga blings. no spots whatsoever. parang lagi brand new. plus d makakadamage sa paints. 190 pesos lang dun sa ace hardware ko binili. worth it. estimate ko one bottle would last a year or even more.

yung ibang chrome cleaner parang 400-500 tapos may fine print na dapat avoid maapply sa car paint.

tnx! i might as well try it, may scratches na din yong mga blings ko especially at door handles. btw , i was * canossa school this am. while i was parking at the high school area, titig na titig yong mama kay vanzy. kala ko he just wanted to make sure kung ok pang magpark don kasi basa- basa yong grass. when i went out of the car, di na sya nakatiis.. he approached and asked me where did i bought my bling blings coz he also got an avanza for a year now. yon naman pala... ok din ang may blings kasi di napansin yong ding. hehehe!

Di na kami nakapasok sa canossa. Napaka traffic kasi sa labas. Bumabana si Mrs and naglakad. Bako ako makapasok sa gate ng canossa, lumabas na sila. Dumiretso na kami ng Alabang.

may nakatabi ako sa parking na avanza j na may chrome yung handles and side mirror na parang kinakalawang na. sayang lang at d ko napicturan kc baka akalain carnapper ako. isip ko tuloy baka inferior quality yung nakuha nya blings or tamad lang maglinis yung owner kaya nagkaganun. ano tingin nyo?

di ba plastic lang yung chrome aftermarket accessories available, bakit kinakalawang?

OT - Palagay ko yung ground hindi sa car mo galing. Me mga tao na malakas ang ground sa katawan. Problem ko din yan. Maski noong iba pang car ang gamit ko, madalas akong ma-ground pagka labas ng car. Pati sa gate ko, naga-ground ako dahil pag baba sa car, sara ko kaagad ang gate. Kaya hindi ako humamawak sa metal part ng car pagsasara ng door, sa door handle ako humahawak. Saka hindi ko kaagad sinasara ang gate, wait pa ako ng mga 10-15 seconds.

Madali din akong ma-ground sa elevator door, escalator. Pati doors ng hotel na card ang gamit na key. Nakaka-asar taga.
