car manufacturers even showcase their upcoming vehicles in car shows months ahead of their launch date to build up the market.

what Toyota should be concerned about is the Ford EcoSport & the upcoming mini-SUV from Mitsubishi.

In other countries especially European countries, even though they announce upcoming models, bumebenta parin yung current models nila since they have a very big market base with contrasting taste in terms of specs and models. Sa ibang bansa like Thailand, 35,000 per month ata ang benta nila. kapag nag-announce ka dito sa Pinas months before the actual launch, siguradong d na bebenta yung current.. again, just my opinion..

he,he...what a difference. in the US, 1.4 MILLION new vehicles are sold MONTHLY. 7,000 vehicles per month? to put that in perspective, there are 30,000 camrys and 60,000 F-150s sold monthly in america.

Or it could go the other way around. I held back my purchase of a Ford Escape when I heard in December that the Toyota Revo was going to be replaced soon.

yun din ang isang point to consider. in my case, i'm contemplating on getting a new vehicle. ok sana innova, pero kahit yung base model medyo sagad sa budget. so, i might have to delay my purchase until such time na alam na kung lalabas nga o hindi ang avanza. mas fit sya sa budget ko without compromise sa needs ko sa sasakyan.

Trivia lang sir, If there were no second hand imports here in the Phil. Total Legal sales would have been 10,000 units per month. We did a study kasi about second hand vehicle imports.

According to a thread in motioncars, the Avanza will be introduced here in March. Hindi na daw pwede gawing taxi ang Vios (oh common! they have said that before). The Avanza daw will be allowed to be turned into a taxi. If its really going to be introduced here, it should be priced cheaper than the innova J.

anyway, repost ko lang yung specs:
    Type 5 door MPV
    ENGINE
    Model K3-VE
    Type Inline 4 Cylinder DOHC 16V VVT-i
    Displacement 1,298cc
    Bore and Stroke 72.0mm x 79.7mm
    Compression Ratio 10:1
    Transmission Manual 5-speed
Drive Layout FF (front engine, front drive)
    Power (hp) 89 * 6000 rpm
    Torque (Nm) 120 * 3200rpm
    Fuel Tank Capacity 45 litres
    Top speed 160 km/h

    Length 4070mm
    Wheelbase 2655mm
    Width 1630mm
    Height 1690mm
    Wheel 5JX14
    Tyre 185/70 R14
    Curb Weight 1085kg

    compared with the vios:

    weight: 925 - 930kg
    hp: 85bhp/600rpm
    torque: 122Nm/4000-4400rpm

    the avanza has:

    -- 4hp more horsepower;
-- almost same torque, but at lower rpms(is 3200rpm still considered low?)
    -- 165-175kg more weight(understandably)

any diesel versions coming out? it's about time we saw some light duty diesels under the hood(e.g. matrix)

I don't think they will introduce this here in the Phil. since Innova already got it's tremendous share of the market after replacing the Revo. Though in Indonesia and Malaysia, the Avanza has made great recognition.

They'll introduce that here sa March.

Bawal na gawing taxi yung Vios, that's their first step. Then ilalabas nila itong Avanza at a very cheap price, Php550,000.00 lang daw.
