My Camry has an odd ticking noise emanating from the dashboard from the side where the instrument cluster is. I was wondering what could be the source of it. It is there as soon as you start the car so I can hear it when I'm idling, accelerating or braking. Any ideas or similar experiences?

No it is not my key chain. Any other suggestions / experiences / advice?

do you have an appliance using your cigar lighter socket? it might be the relay...
does the noise coincide with a very slight jerk? it might be the compressor relay...

It's there even when the air conditioner isn't on and I don't have anything plugged in the lighter socket. I am thinking it is indeed related to something electrical but I can't figure where it might be exactly.

It could be the speedo cable slipping or single broken strand of wire frm the cable.

Had that problem on my lovelife.

What year model Camry is this? Does it sound like a random ticking, like from a rattle, or does it repeat itself continuously like a ticking clock?

If it's a newer model, it probably no longer uses a mechanical speedometer.
