a long time fx owner here. i love FX.

I previously owned a standard fx with 5k engine then changed it to another fx unit with 7k engine. due to the high cost of gasoline, i changed the unit to a GL model with 2C diesel engine.

because of my pasion with FX, i upgraded the engine of my current FX GL 1996 model with a 3C Turbo diesel engine. very strong engine that can overtake revo easily specially pag paakyat na kalsada.

anyway, sa tagal ko gumagamit ng fx, halos gamay ko na ang maintenance nya. for those inquiries ng mga fellow fx owners, i'll try to answer some of your questions:

    1. matakaw talaga ang gasoline engine ng fx (7K and 5K) 5K is underpower for an FX lalo na sa akyatan. masyadong makupad. i already tried experimenting on the jet valves of both engine. wala rin significant change sa fuel consumption. mag ooverheat lang makina mo if you change the jet to a smaller one. FX with 2C ordinary diesel engine can go 14 to 15 km/l on highways with aircon on. a 2C turbo engine can go 13 to 14 km/l while a 3C Turbo engine can go 12 to 13 km/l with the aircon on. i love experimenting on fuel mileage so more or less those figures are accurate base on my own experience. in short, malayong mas matipid ang diesel engine. mas malakas pa nga yang diesel pag naka turbo. 3c turbo is the best upgrade for FX engine. maganda pang karera. wala sinabi mga revo at adventure pag 3c turbo makina fx nyo lalo na pag sa akyatan.

    2. 5K and 7K engines are timing chain. located sa likod ng radiator fan yong chain nya. crosswinds/highlander engines po ay timing gear and not timing chain.

    3. 2C and 3C engines are timing belt. never use a local replacement timing belt. always use the original timing belt (unita ang brand name ng original). pag naputolan ka kasi ng timing belt, malaki ang damage engine mo lalo na pag nasa high speed ka nong naputol. halos lahat ng laman ng cylinder head mo eh sigurado mapapalitan. swerte mo pag okay pa cylinder head mo.

    4. karamihan pyesa ng fx lalo na yong mga underchasis like yong suspension sa harap, ball joints, brake pads and others ay pareho lang sa revo. magkaiba nga lang yong brake shoe sa likod dahil mas malaki yong sa revo. the rest are the same with revo pati yong shock absorbers.

    5. FX are very good in slippery roads as compared to revo, adventure, pick ups and vans. tested na yan and that is why they love FX here in the mountainous area of the cordillera region lalo na sa mga madudulas na undeveloped roads.

    6. change your shock absorber pag matagtag na. walang problema sa molye pag dinagdagan nila. ako nga dinagdagan ko ng isa pa (number 3 spring) yong pangatlo from the main spring. mas maganda cornering mo kasi. kahit medyo mabilis sa mga sharp curve okay pa rin kung mas stiff yong spring mo sa likod.

    7. change oil every 4,500 kilometers. use special oil (15/40) sa mga diesel. okay lang ordinary oil sa mga gasoline but if you have a budget why not use a better oil.

    8. check nyo yong bushing ng pintuan nyo at yon yong isang prone na source ng ingay lalo na pag rough road. madali lang palitan yon. alam nila yong sa talyer. bili lang kayo bushing sa auto supply.

hehehe, mahaba na yata post ko. paano ba mag post ng pics dito at i upload ko rin yong fx ko. i tried other vehicles like pick-up vans and sedans pero FX pa rin ang maganda performance and easy to maintain and very fuel efficient specially at this time na mahal gasolina.

GOOD LUCK SA LAHAT NG FELLOW FX LOVERS.OWNERS!!!

and this is also one of my previous fx. taken at camp john hay baguio city. 2C na ordinary yong makina nyan. meron pa yong standard na 5k yong makina but i dont have the picture. so oviously, i already tried all the models of FX from gas to diesel engine.

mga old model vehicles yang FX pero wala tayo magagawa at yon lang talaga kaya budget natin. old model but i think very reliable vehicles naman for ordinary citizens like me who cant afford those new and expensive vehicles.

No matter what others want to say, Tamaraw FX is still one of the most fuel efficient AUV of this generation. yet one of the most practical to own by an ordinary citizens like me. it can accommodate 11 passengers, easy to maintain, easy to drive, realiable and durable specially in the rough roads with great suspension handling on the mountainous and slippery roads.

i love my old model FX and thats it. thats all i can afford and it suits my transportation requirements.
