    I noticed that the Vios:

    1. only has 1 auxiliary fan (I think the Altis has only 1 too)

    2. has no engine temperature gauge on its dashboard

Does this mean that VVTi engines runs cooler as compared to other engines?

I also noticed that in a VVTi engine, the intake manifold is facing in front of the car, as opposed to most front wheel drive cars wherein the intake manifolda are facing the cars' firewall. Whatis the rationale for this?

the reversed engine mounting is meant for an overall quieter car.

the vios has a temp warning light. Its an entry level car.

reversed engine mounting also results in smaller engine compartment, according to toyota. i don't know how this was possible, but the shorter hood of the altis is noticeable naman.

trend na yata ito where intake is in the front, K20 of CRV also has the manifold up front. isa daw sa reason ay mas mas manit kasi ang headers kaya inilayo sa radiator.

Yung isang nasa harap, harapan sila actually.

engine temp warning lamp, alam ko its either red blue o wala.

same as the jazz and picanto, mga temp lights lng. iilaw lng yan ng red if its running hot na, or blue if its cold, none if normal. I think magiging common narin eto sa mga future models pa, kc same lng nman parati ung level ng meter nya pag normal diba? so they just placed lights pra to inform you na ndi na normal ung temp mo. imo mas ok panga eto cuz we dont always look at the temp gauge nman while driving diba, pag Light, mas mapapansin mo un agad.

Hehehe.

Yes, it's a cost-cutting measure. Yun nga lang, what if these lights malfunction?

    Di naman lahat sir...

On the vios temp guage (or lack of it), di ba kailangan yun para maagapan kung medyo tumaas lang more than normal. Yung ilaw yata pag overheat na talaga... hmmm.

Kaya pala ang init ng engine bay ng altis, nun hinawakan ko yung hood at yung engine bay, napapaso ako sobra

yung hood stand mismo ang init di ko mahawakan.

Toyota VVTi engines are known run hotter than others. I guess that's the compromise for all those horsepower.

I would rather have analog (meter) type temp gauge indicator in my dash as it provides real-time information to meticulous driver of car engine condition. Too late for the driver to react if his car is already on red hot condition as what the red light is trying to say. Off course there is still no full proof technology for engine overheating hence the need to always check the temp condition.
By the way, it was mentioned that there are two light blue and red, in which blue means temp is cool. Does it means everytime you start the car in the morning your car will run with blue light on for some distance till the temp rise to normal?

Strange observations on the Vios
