Hi, i do not know if this is the right place to post this. My wife lost her Innova car key while shopping in a mall. Though we still have a duplicate key with the alarm. i am worried that someone out there might have picked it up and therefore has the key to our car. We already inquired with the guards office and so far, no one has surrendered the key. What is the best thing to do in this situation. I have inquired with Toyota and according to them they cannot change the code of the alarm since this is unique to every toyota vehicle. Thanks.

The only way for someone who may be having your key now (assuming that someone has it already) to use it on your car is that if he had followed you secretly until you got home, wait until after you retire, enter the premises, open the gates from the inside and there, steal it. If parked outside, the better. If he doesn't want to trespass, he can always wait in the morning of any day, follow you for when you may park the car somewhere outside, then steal. Chances of that happening are very remote and far-fetched but strictly technicaly possible.
If you really want that possibility avoided, you can ask the dealer to change the entire immobilizer/anti-theft system, the ignition and all door locks with a set of new keys.

medyo malaking gastos ata to sir ah... how about changing the security system outside casa aroung 1k+ wag lang ipatanggal ang Original ipaputol mo lang. at least mag alarm sya kung i try nya buksan ang Innova mo. Mas madali kasing nakawin ang sasakyan mo pag nandoon ang remote security sa kanila.

or change all door lock sa casa and security outside casa.
if you have budget change all na lang sa casa.

    We're on the same boat.

It's been more than a year since I lost the duplicate keys to our Mitsubishi Fuzion.

Everytime I remember that the other key is possibly with someone else's possession, I get uncomfortable.

I suggest you apply for a comprehensive car insurance if wala pa. para incase ma-carnap may yan you're still in good hands. for security purposes din , do not leave any valuables in your car just incase alam ng nakakuha ng susi mo yung car mo which is a very remote possibility.

As long as you don't have any identifying info on your key then you're relatively fine (some people have a habit of placing the plate numbers of their cars on their keys or they don't bother to remove the service tags).

Just use a steering lock on your car as precaution when you park at public places, especially if your frequent that particular mall. That Toyota key is quite a dime a dozen so the person who picked it up (if he has any intent to steal the car in the first place) may not even know what kind of Toyota it belongs to.

Its pretty crazy if wala na talaga susi wondering how the car can be used again

I recently acquired a second hand repossessed 2011 Mazda 3 1.6V. Here's the thing, it only came with one key. The spare key was apparently “lost” by the first owner. I went to Mazda Alabang to inquire how much it would cost me to duplicate the key and they quoted me more or less 19k. Now my concern is, is it possible to deactivate the “missing spare key” so that it won’t work anymore on my car? Somewhere out there, someone has the possession of my car key and I want to ensure that no untoward incidents will happen (carnap etc). What do you suggest that I do? Is it possible to deactivate that key on the loose or do I have no choice but to completely change the key system of my car? How much would it cost me if ever? Thank you!

Try to erase the lost key on your car
toyota has on board features like add keys and erase keys to the program. Now to know if the program really erase all the lost key you first need to add new key to the program then erase all the existing keys except 1 key [the one your using now], then test.
sir try nyo po sa mr. quickie sm calamba

P4000 po for ford and mazda
    P3000 - honda

Hi! Mine was stolen kasama yung remote ng security lock and alarm, gusto ko ipapalit lahat, sabi sakin nung nagkabit ng security lock pwedeng ibahin yung frequency ng security lock. Pero I'll go to toyota to buy a set of door locks and ignition. How much ba yun? Thanks!

    hi there mate,
I am a car key specialist in London. You would be surprised how many people lose their car keys. The option that is the best for you in order to prevent somebody from stealing your vehicle is to get a replacement car key. Even though the remote will use the same frequency to open the vehicle, the lost key won't be able to start the engine as the your new key will have a new transponder in it with different code. I think this is the best you can do. Good luck
