Tinanong ko ung nagbebenta bakit mababa, sabi nila tatlo ung sasakyan nila (which is totoo naman) and mas ginagamit nila ung fortuner nila. So akala ko okay na. I just found out na hindi pala!

Wala. Nabili mo na eh? Just live with it. Yan ang risk involved for buying second hand cars.

Don't make mileage a big deal.

Aside that may problema ka ba nakita?

O eto kuwento saken ng cousin ko a weeks ago.

Buy and sell din siya, he bid cars sa insurance company yung mga declared total loss.

Pag nanalo sa bidding he either restore the car or kahuyin yung parts.

May nakuha siya na 2016 City, front damage and airbag was deployed.

Nabuo niya ulit kaso ang mahirap ibenta pag wala na nga airbag, too pricey din for them kung pati yun ibabalik.

Ending he sold the car sa buy and sell dudes, declared naman na wala na airbag.

Buy and sell sold the car, si buy and sell dinisable yung airbag indicator.

Yung nakabili pinacheck sa honda yung car and ayun nalaman na nabangga nga and declared total loss.

How did you meet the buyer? I noticed that at OLX a lot of the cars for sale have extremely low mileage. Average is supposed to be 10k annually, isn't it? How can they tamper the odometer when it's already digital? It blows my mind that individual sellers/owners will go as far to deceive a client. Unless those are buy and sell people posing as the owners?

My cars average 6k annually but when the time comes that I need to sell my car, I will turnover all the casa records to the buyer. Didn't you get any of the casa records? That's a relatively new car.

I don't think there's much you can do especially since its been a month from the sale.

Which I doubt.

If wala naman then just let it go.

Ano ba pala ba gusto mo mangyari?

    1. are you complaining because the odometer was tampered, or because the car doesn't run well? ***
    2. if second owner says he did not know the odo was tampered when he bought it from the first owner, i do not think you have a case against him.
    3. consider the lawyer's fees and the cost of purchase of the car. are you willing to spend more for the lawyer? perhaps it is better that your proposed lawyer's fees be kept in the ba-ul, for car repair expenses later. knowing how expensive lawyers' fees are, you'll probably be ahead this way.

***when i composed this, i hadn't yet read TS's reply above.

It is his first car, as much as he wanted to buy a brandnew, his pocket only allows pre-owned.

He is young and doesn't know about cars and whatnot.

It is the same feeling when your car had its first 'scar'. Either you live with it or you do something.

TS- many great advices you got here already. If it is only the tampered odo and that squealing sound but you bought it in bargain-- you should be contented.

I am sure this will be a different thread if you have bought a carnapped.

    You will feel better ✌️

The hazards of buying a second hand car in the Philippines - maraming nandadaya sa odo reading. Best advise I can give (for next time) is do not buy a 2nd hand car without casa PMS records. Those are the only verifiable documents with odo/date records I can think of.

You really have to move-on. To have peace of mind, unahin mo yung mga importante, ipa-tune-up mo, change oil and papalitan mo na din ng timing belt & belt tensioner.

Sorry TS... So yung happiness mo driving the car for a month biglang nawala when you learned na tampered yung odo ng car mo?

Personally, di baleng mataas odo basta maintained yung sasakyan...

In reality, nabili mo yang car na yan kasi yan kaya ng budget mo, nagustuhan mo sya and you felt good after the test drive...

Kapag bumilika talaga ng 2nd hand car. Expected na yang mga problema na ganyan.

    Share ko sa akin.

1st time bumili ng 2nd hand car and sabi Toyota or Mitsubishi para mas maraming parts available either orig/replacement or surplus.
Siste yung nabili ko Toyota Corolla small body. Ganda ng itsura naka pearl white pa and JDM pa yung front and rear bumpers.
Take note walang test driving.

To make the story short heto mga pinalitan ko in less than a year alone:
    • Aircon major maintenance.
    • Orig timing Belt.
    • Transmission assembly orig parts used.
    • All shock absorbers and stabilizer links.
    • Replaced all tyres, break pads etc etc
    • And never ending radiator leaks until binenta ko.

I've learned a lot from buying and using 2nd hand car. Since then kasi 2nd lang talaga ako and never bought a brand new car. After 3-4 of years of using binebenta ko na din po. Kung baga upgrade lang ako.

    Thanks for sharing!

May I know how much you've spent for acquiring and fixing your Corolla small body?

    Everything you mentioned is normal.

Except for the "Transmission assembly orig parts used" - although na experience ko na rin masiraan ng transmission (90's Lancer GLX), 1998 noon, uso pa drag at dala ng kabataan

    - Aircon will need to be checked since di mo naman talaga masisilip kung pinalinis sya ng previous owner.
    - Timing belt/brake pads (for peace of mind) - di mo rin ito masisilip during inspection bago bilihin
    - Suspension, kung '92 yung E90 mo, it's more than 20 years na.
    - radiator... if I remember correctly, both E90s (91 model, we had an XL5 and XL4)) namin napalitan ang radiator nila pareho around 97-98... Copper radiator na pinalit namin since kumunat yung plastic cover ng original radiator...
