That's a pretty normal thing [checking out the new product].

Although sa ibang markets, they would rather purchase the competitor's vehicle and scrutinize it in their own backyard rather than make a crowd at the showroom floor.

Ever wonder why there are Chevy pick-ups at the Ford Proving Grounds?

The Innova is an 8 seater. The ten seater rule died a long time ago.

a bit strange though...i'd expect them to have already inspected it during the launching -- or sa pag debut nya sa market -- of the innova in thailand or indonesia -- di naman cguro ganun kahina ang intelligence gathering nila

maybe they want to give it a test drive on RP roads

    options...

    a. come up with an adventure replacement to battle it out with the innova
    b. scrap the adventure and tweak the grandis to battle it out with the innova (tweak its features to get into as wide a price range as innova)... how about a diesel engine on the grandis?
    c. bring in one another car design (colt plus anyone?)

    ano pa ba?

personally, i was surprised at the price range of the innova... specs and price, I'm impressed... I'm almost certain this may have triggered concern in the Mitsu camp. Mitus lead commercial vehicles sales start of the year, but with the price range of the innova, toyota is hitting back and regaining market share... a lot of market share I predict.

    as i've said before...

Mitsubishi is going to counter that with an upcoming SUV / MPV that will be built here in the Philippines.

Mitsubishi Motors to concentrate on SUVs
    By Marianne V. Go
    The Philippine Star 01/31/2005

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) said it will concentrate on sports utility vehicle (SUV) production with about two-thirds of its output intended for export to the Southeast Asian market.

According to MMPC senior vice president for marketing Melchor Dizon, MMPC is moving forward on its new SUV model that is expected to be unveiled by the last quarter of 2006 or first quarter of 2007.

The still unnamed SUV, Dizon disclosed, is intended to be a family vehicle with a seating capacity for eight passengers, but also convertible to be a multi-purpose vehicle.

It would come in two engine variants, a 2.5-liter diesel engine and a 2.4-liter gas option.

The new SUV model would likely be similar to Toyota’s new multi-purpose vehicle Innova.

Dizon said MMPC is eyeing an initial production of about 3,000 units for the new SUV model, with about two-thirds of the production intended for export to the ASEAN region.

According to Dizon, MMPC is in the midst of realigning its plant for the new SUV, with the completion of the new production line by March this year.

"MMPC is spending P2 billion for the development of the new SUV, although the production of the new vehicle is a collaboration of MMPC with China Motors and Mitsubishi Motors of Japan.

wow by the time MMPC releases that in 2006 or 2007, we will be seeing innovas in every street, katabi pa haha

Mitsubishi is dead meat... if it doesn't come up with an answer, over faced lifted na yung Adventure nila to a point na over accessorized na. Even if they release a new model in 2006, they'l be left behind in sales, aamagin yung mga adventure units nila. Another wrong move by Mitsubishi... and it could be their undoing. And why didn't they do it in a more subtle way?
