We have 2 corolla xe's used by my 2 teenaged boys for school, one is a 96 corolla xe bought it from a friend and it is still bone stock only the belts has been replaced and a 2001 lovelife xe and we already replaced the carb twice both were reconditioned surplus from kamuning. My question is considering the age of the lovelife 01 and the big body 96 is the former better built than the latter? thanks in advance

    Kita na naman tayo dito

Anyway as I mentioned in your other thread our big body XE's original shocks are still alive after almost 200k mileage. After being stored in the garage for a few years unused it was top overhauled and the wirings were replaced. The clutch slave and master also got repair kits. Suspension is still orig.

We also got a love life GLi MT the year it came out. Replaced na ang shocks and bushings sa likod this year, PS system is leaking, rear bearings are dying and most of the engine gaskets need a replacement. All of the electricals still work though.

In our experience parang mas matibay nga ang big body compared to the love life.

Yung big body binenta namin sa secretary nila ermat. Very low price as a reward for 20+ years of service. Tuwang-tuwa.

Tumatawag sakin every now and then for repair advise. Natuto tuloy magrefill ng PS reservoir :hysterical:

    ako din, sali..

if your referring to XE/XL models of bigbody and lovelife, parehas lang sila ng 2e engine, 2e engine ng lovelife its still the 2e engine that runs the 2e bigbody.

but for the GLi variants, both have the same engine code 4AFE, pero meh konti silang difference, mas mataas ang compression ratio ng 4AFE ng lovelife,
thus creating a bit more power than 4AFEs of bigbody.

afaik ulit, both (bigbody and lovelife) share the same underchassis, kaya parts para sa dalawa is sobrang abundant. hehe.

My first car is a bigbody GLI 95 model, dont want to sell it away before, pero kasi ang garage slot alloted sakin is 1 lang, so kailangan idispatsa, miss that car.

PS leaks are common sa bigbody and lovelife models, yan ang weakpoint ng corolla of that generations. yan lang nga actually aalagaan mo dyan, the rest wala ka na halos proproblemahin.

Mas malaki ba talaga interior space ng big body? Or feeling lang namin ganun dahil XE lang ang big body kaya manipis ang sidings due to the manual windows.

    thanks.

^true that. it never goes out of style.

I bought a Corolla XE bigbody in 1997, brand new, wala ako naging problema sa gamit at maintenance, naaksidente lang noon 2000 kaya napilitan ako sell, sayang nga! In 2010, I bought a 1996 GLi automatic tranny, top of the line, company car, executive ang user kaya maayos ang maintenance, got it at a bargain price from a friend.
