    Toyota Land Cruiser Prado – next-gen coming 2022? - Paultan.org

    With the new Toyota Land Cruiser fully revealed, attention now turns to the smaller Prado version, which has soldiered on in its current form since 2009. Twelve years is a long time in automotive circles, so the SUV will have to be replaced sooner rather than later.

    A new report from Creative Trend has shed some light on when we can expect the next-generation 250 series will arrive, with the Japanese automotive blog putting the timeline for its introduction sometime next year. This would put it about a year ahead of the estimate from another website Best Car Web.

    The latter states that the Prado will be delayed due to a packed launch schedule in 2022, which includes a full model change of the Noah (and the related Voxy and Esquire) in the first quarter, a rumoured Crown SUV in the middle of the year and a new Alphard and Vellfire in the second half.


    Expect the new Prado to derive some design inspiration from the new Land Cruiser

    The need for an immediate replacement has been placated somewhat by a minor product update in June, which added pedal misapplication control, redesigned 19-inch alloy wheels and a new special edition celebrating the Land Cruiser’s 70th anniversary. Best Car Web said that the model remains popular in Japan, easing the urgency for a full refresh.

    While the estimated timings may diverge, the two news sources agree on one thing – the Prado is expected to retain the same body-on-frame underpinnings as before, rather than migrating to the new GA-F platform utilised by the full-sized Land Cruiser. It should also draw some design inspiration from its larger sibling and receive the latest Toyota Safety Sense active safety features.

    The engine lineup is likely to remain, consisting of the Fortuner‘s 2.8 litre turbodiesel and 2.7 litre naturally-aspirated petrol mills, though the former is rumoured to get a twin-turbo upgrade for this application. Also possible are the Land Cruiser’s 3.3 litre twin-turbo diesel V6 and a 2.5 litre hybrid. (3.5L V6 twin turbo gas may be possible or reserved only on Lexus GX)

    sana instead of the 1GD-FTV. TMP might drop this engine although possible idetune nila iyan para mas malakas parin ang LC300.

    Yep, it might be cheaper if that becomes the case. And kahit detuned siya mas malakas parin sa 1gd. Sana lang hindi na magdamot ang tmp by then.

    baka di din pumasok. from my understanding hindi ba below 3.0L ang jepepa? kindly correct me if i am mistaken.

    Its the other way around po sir. Above 3000cc.

    Kaya sobrang mahal ng local 1kd/1gd powered lc150 prados eh.

    Kaya rin pala mas marami akong nakikitang Prado 4.0L gas sa daan. Yung FJ parang wala na atang kumukuha ngayon..

    I think this will be even better than the new lc300. It will have the same ekdss, crawl control, aluminium panels and eps. But it might have that v6 diesel engine and 10sp transmission or maybe an upgraded 2.8 diesel engine with possibly that 8spd aisin transmission. Toyota is gonna beat Toyota

    Always thought the Prado had a weird value proposition, being sandwiched in between the Fortuner and LC200. Better car than the Fort for sure, but with it being not much bigger and the price so close to the LC200, it's easy to see why most customers choose the other 2 options. Given the frame will be the same as before, size wise there will probably be not much change. And with every new model comes a price increase. So I think the anemic sales figures for this model will continue.

    Because of its ridiculous high price, exclusivity nalang siguro is its biggest edge which is always a good thing if people don't like their cars being common on the road. Pero yung lc150 kahit since late 00s pa yung design is still imposing to look at even until now, especially its second facelift in late 2017. Unlike the pajero bk na halatang older generation ang design. Nakakainis lang talaga kasi ang price nito in some other countries is much closer to that of ppvs than it is here. Tapos indent order pa kaya hindi madali makakuha nun.

    Like sa Australia. Medyo di nag kakalayo ang pricing ng TOTL Fortuner at Prado sa kanila.

    The Pajero BK (4th gen) has the same basic design and engines as the 1999-2006 3rd gen Pajero. Kaya mukha agad very dated.

    Yep pero imho the best ang styling ng ck sa mga pajeros. Rally-inspired kasi ang datingan like the fieldmaster. Hindi katulad ng bk na naging conservative at matured ang styling kaya parang hindi na kasing inspiring or astig tingnan. Sana nga yun nalang naging gen 3 hehe.

    I think it will grow in size to differentiate it from the tuna. The aussies love this so their size feedback is a priority.

    kasi naka dikit sa badge nya yung "land cruiser" prado.. hehe kung Toyota Prado name, pwede siguro mag price a little higher sa Fortuner.. then LC200 na yung top..

    buti nga hindi nila dinikit yung "land cruiser" sa fortuner.. kung nagkataon.. nakow ang taas ng presyo nyan

    Are they making a bigger frame for the new one bro? Not sure how they could make it significantly bigger with the same old frame..

    Prado 2.8 diesel is just 400k cheaper than the base LC200. Big chunk of money for most people but for buyers at this level that is nothing. Makes more sense to go for the LC200.

    corek. maski mas mahal ang LC200 invariably mas common sila nakikita ko sa daan kaysa Prado. mas fast moving siguro for toyota ph ang lc200 kaysa prado.

    The LC300 is 1980mm and is 10mm wider than the non TNGA-F LC200

    I think when the Prado uses the new TNGA-F chassis, it will outgrow the current 1885mm wide Prado. 1890-1900mm maybe?

    I have a feeling this will be taller too.

    The wheelbase will probably be stretched to 2800mm(currently 2790mm). The Fortuner is at 2745, while the lc300 is 2850.

    10 speed A/T na straight from the LC300
