yes i tried complain this at Toyota but the foreman said the factory antirust proofing warranty is case to case basis.. sana they have to be specific on what is cover with the warranty.. try nyo e check sa innova nyo. its on upper part of the bar that holds the transmission.. if on the lower part wala naman.. some rust can be found below radiator bracket. back portion...

I find early sign of rust on the chassis, very dissapointed with toyota. i did not have this early case on my nissan.
My innova will be out of warranty by November this year though it only has accumulated a little less than 22000km on the odometer. Used sparingly. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of buying a new vehicle so I'll have to stick with it for a little while. I do have a company car but the Innova is my FIRST car, so the sentimental value that comes with it.

I inspect the underside every now and then and it is in perfect condition. I did broke the front right towing eyelet in one careless driving occasion and regretted it. No major cause for alarm though. I stopped worrying on the possibility of the engine dying on me one of these days. It will do me no good.

For me, it is still a reliable ride having an excellent fuel consumption of 10.5 km/li in city.

yes its good to see things that you have accomplish and invest in. anyway i did not know about this issue about toyota d4d engine until one time i drive out of town to mt. kanlaon i was driving my frontier when i saw a stalled 4x2hilux as a good samaritan i pull over. they told me bigla na lng tumirik ang makina. i investigate and look what is the problem cuz its the same engine with my innova. i thot baka nag overheat because its long uphill drive. hindi nman kasi nasa gitna ang temp gauge. we tried start it medyo may hard starting at umandar naman when he start to gear, the hilux just move a few meters and it stalled again. so i just help them tow the car to the nearest municipal... after that it bothers me what if that also happen to my innova. That begins me to question the quality and reliability of toyota.

on innova d4d MT i cant estimate my fuel consumption in city driving. but i get almost 14 to 16km/liter on the highway in average speed of 80km/h..

next week maintenance of my innova, I plan not bring it sa casa. ang warranty parang wala din naman false assurance.

    ANY SUGGESTION sa toyota owners
WHAT FULLY SYNTHETIC OIL is better sa D4D 2kd-ftd engine?

    thanks.

TOKYO — Toyota Motor Corp. said Thursday about 270,000 vehicles sold worldwide, including luxury Lexus sedans, have faulty engines, but the company did not say whether it would recall the automobiles.

The world's biggest automaker said the defective engines could stall while the vehicles were moving

In the company i worked, we have a total of 8 Innovas all D4D (08-00)models and 3superGrandias. We never had a single issues about stalling etc. of the engine..The only commonalities i could share is that all our Innovas are smoke belchers..the grandias fortunately were not.

2006 Fortuner, 30,000+kms = engine stalling due to supply pump problem (June 2010)

2007 Innova, 11,000+kms = Alternator light in the dash comes on & off,

    • assessed by Toyota Commonwealth (paid P750 for this) = needs alternator replacement, P30,000 parts only

    • after buying the alternator in Toyota (parts dealer) Banawe QC & installed in independent shop = loose drive belt only!!! Original Alternator was ok. Buti na lang nai-refund yung replacement alternator.

    To Toyota Commonwealth:

I also own a 2010 model Innova d4d engine2.50G, last May ko lang binili, wala pa naman akong nadetect na mulfunction, I even try to push to the maximum speed na kaya ng dibdib ko 170km/hr. and Iwas very satisfied
    to its performance,

What I can I say is always have to follow the PMS schedule, you can have Castrol oil for the change oil.

thank you sa suggestion.castrol edge 5w-30 is newer oil that is compatible to d4d 2kd-ftd engine... I just purchase Motul specific CRDi 5w-40 today, on sunday ill changed the oil myself.. and see if may improvements compare sa toyota fully synthetic.. my 08innova d4d mt is still under warranty pa naman. kaso medyo hindi worth ang services ng toyota..

mdggapo is your innova AT or MT? how much speed do you get on 2000rpm?2500rpm? on stock 205/65 r15 tires? thanx.

Have you checked your air filter? Try removing your air filter and drive around, look if the smoke decreases. If it does, buy a BNEW Toyota Original Air filter. Never buy replacement for Common Rail engines.

Does your smoke belch problem coincide with a power related problem? or okay naman power mo?

edit: by the way, driving without an air filter is only good if you are diagnosing the problem but it could damage the engine if debris enters your manifold.

Running the engine without an air filter is dangerous!! Never do it!! It may result to severe and costly damages. You just need to clean the filter or replace with a new one.

    hi mates!

just like to share my experience here since dami ko ng time nag-attempt na i-post ito dito at para na din sa kaalaman ng iba pa, marami kasing TMP service center ang walang viewing area para makita man lang natin kung talagang ginagawa nila ung mga concern nating mga owner, so getting my chance i recorded what & how the "Check Engine" problem was diagnosed

mine is 2007 fortuner 2.5 d4d having an exact mileage of 25,500kms. and 36 mos. old na sa akin...i've encountered the same "Check Engine Problem" approx 9,000kms of using my fort, so following instruction written in owner's manual helps me awhile reaching TMP Dasma Cavite and submit my complaint. what they did was dettach the Fuel Cable Connector Line near under the Break Pedal and cleaned the contacts, they attached "Intelligent Tester II" then applies pressure on the Fuel Pedal, and for viewing pleasure here's the link : [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TnRqipBWXY"]YouTube- intelligent tester.mp4[/ame] (related vids kaso japs : [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQNtKAlbirA&feature=related"]YouTube- Toyota Intelligent Tester II[/ame] )

while doing their works my fuel indicator light pops out informing insuficient load on the tank, buti na lang at di talaga ako nagkarga ng diesel before going TMP, i was using PETRON that time

then after performing their works i ask the service supervisor for possible reason/s kung bakit nag Check Engine Light, simply answered me "MADUMI KASI ANG DIESEL NATIN SA PINAS" kaya malamang naapektuhan ang Fuel Pump kaya nagkaganoon.....ignorante ako sa issue na ito kaya smile na lang ako at sa isip ko buti na lang ganun lang, the supervisor told me that the fuel tank still having approx 5 ltrs so for me to reach nearest gas stn. & sabay bulong sa akin "try nyo sa CALTEX" sabay ngiti, so i used Caltex up to now.....maganda ang result using Caltex base sa aking experienced

i clean the Air Filter every other week since i have an air compressor as part of my routine when dusting the engine and already replaced the Air Filter reaching 20k milage, buti na lang nakasanayan ko na cos hindi na pala ginagawa sa kasa ang ganun at pinagbawal daw sa kanila ng DENR, kaya replace na lang sila....ewan ko sa ibang TMP service center

OT : di ko masisi si Mr.Mamawal dun sa ginawang interview cos nakasama ko yan sa work when i was employed at Wyeth Phils., we fondly called him Mr.Bow kasi kahit baluktot ang reasons eh ipipilit pa din...my 2cents, Bobbit no offensement ;)

    regards

    Toyota Hi-Ace Commuter 2010 D4D nag choke:

After painitin ang engine for 2 minutes, nag first gear ako then arangkada. Parang wala siyang power pero umandar ng konti then tumigil pero buhay pa rin ang engine. Binalik ko sa neutral then nag first gear ule ako then arangkada pero ayaw umandar at walang power hanggang sa namatay na ang engine. After starting the engine parang walang nangyari at umarangkada ng normal. Natakot ako so binirit ko after at wala ng problema. 15000 km pa lang ang tinakbo nito. Last May lang namin nilabas yung van.
