Buti na lang i got both of mine (2016 and 2017) before this madness started. There is a difference between the 2016 and 2017 model. Not on the interior or the exterior. But in the engine bay. The 2016 has two batteries on opposite sides of the engine. The 2017 has a single large battery.

with the excise tax on cars almost guaranteed to be implemented by jan-feb at a higher rate i believe for more expensive vehicles, im forced to look into dubai versions outside of casa. but extra 1m!

made the mistake of not looking for a unit myself and relying on the mgr of our bank to look for one. 2-3 mos they said but it seems toyota is again holding on to their units due to a projected 20% increase(im not certain if its true) prior to the excise tax increase.

they just cant commit as to the date of arrival of the units. what if it "arrives" feb, taxes have kicked in by that time.
disappointed!

I ordered another one (gift for my Dad). Its arriving November. But i ordered May pa.

Make sure the dubai version you get has the same type of Dials (speedo tacho) as the local ones. And they have crawl control and vented front seats. Usually they disguise the lack of these features by placing extra screen monitors in the head rests and by changing the headunit. They also add chin and rear skirts. But this is relatively cheap and easy to do. You cant add crawl control, aircon seats nor change the dashboard. And dubai versions dont have any local warranty.

They will not service them at all unless you know someone who can give an excemption. They are really against grey market importers especially on the high demand high margin Landcruisers. Before I had a 2014 LC200.2 dubai version. They refused to service it until i bought a Local Lc200.3 (2016) version from them. Best to be sure and ask if your nearby Toyota dealer will service the grey market unit. This is the reason why i have never gone grey market since.

Worst case.....its a Toyota....these things are fairly easy to maintain. But warranty claims, replacement and repair is a totally different story from maintenance

i ordered july and still no definite date of arrival. got irritated at the bank mgr, told her im not going to take out a loan anymore,ill pay in cash if it arrives. i shouldve taken the offer of an avail unit from toyota makati last month pearl white at that, downside was it had to be in-house financing and no cash or bank loan.. im having a hard time accepting the fact that id hav to spend an extra 1m for dubai version for some features im not really intrested in and with only 1yr warranty.. now wondering if buying a late model preowned is a better alternative if the unit does not arrive before the tax jump, thats if i can find one.
