    olease clarify, thanks.
Turbo diesels usually produce less pollution since the exhaust gasses are recirculated by the turbo in the combustion process... It is true that factory turbo engines can last just as long as NA engines given they are cared for since they are designed with more turbo-friendly compression ratios, reinforced/stronger internals, and other "reinforcements" that will compensate for the needs/demands of the turbo.

The turbo engine will also run hotter and take greater toll on the oil and other components as its ingesting hotter, force-fed air from the recirculated exhaust...

I guess they mentioned that they can be less stressed then NA engines in a sense since the engine will have more power to help overcome the weight/load of the car. (think: Tamaraw FX with the 2.0 diesel engine... lousy performance, poor longevity).

ok thanks for the input, but i think the exhaust gasses does not recirculate back in the combustion process. it still comes out the exhaust pipe. it just turns the vanes in the shaft. turboed engines get hotter air due to the fact that air that is passed on to the turbo intake side is near the exhaust gas in the exhaust side of the turbine. but clean air from the filter is ingested by the engine.

    jayvee,
On your turbo inquiry- better ask the head mechanic at toyota on what specific symptoms to look for on turbo problems. There are varied signs, from oil leaks at the turbo intake, noise, lack of power...let us know what toyota says.

Thanks for the info/correction... I will try to research more. I've still got to learn a lot on such.

i also believe na hindi nga rinerecirculate ang exhaust gas. the exhaust gas is the one turning the turbo, thus making possible the compression of fresh air from the intake.

this is the same action as a supercharger, difference is hindi exhaust gas ang nagpapaikot ng turbo, engine mismo. may belt na nakakabit sa engine.

kaya siguro less pollution, due to higher amount of air available than NA engines. (due to the turbo compression)

The local LC80's came out in late 95 up to around 1997-98.

Try checking out the Toyota part stores in Masangkay and Banawe to see if they can source the parts.

naku, bad words yung "non-automotive project" hehehehe

but i know what you mean, life is not all about cars. kahit ako, hold muna ang mods sa kotse kasi lahat ng pera save para sa construction ng bahay what a bummer.

Yes, the brake pads for the US-spec LC80's will fit on local LC80's. Been there, done that

The longer-lasting LC100 brake pads can even be made to fit, provided you don't install the anti-squeal shims for the LC80.
