Bring it to our shop, it may not fly without wings but we can get it close to that.Originally Posted by ian_rex

Hmmm... sana nandito na rin ang diesel na Focus... supposed to be the third model to launch... may "powerchip" upgrade din siya... :D
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
This is sure to make the 2.5L D4D Fortuner an attractive option. Imagine raising it's max output from 102BHP to 132BHP... That's not too bad na.

almost ANY electronically-controlled turbocharged diesel could benefit from a computer replacement. i think the easiest way is to increase the amount of boost, and through some other "optimizations" too.
there would definitely be more stress on the mechanicals compared to stock, but depending on the aggressiveness of the optimizations and the expertise of the tuner, it may or may not translate to markedly compromised real-world durability and reliablity.
plus, such a modification would surely void your entire engine and drivetrain warranty... although i bet it would be simple to unplug the chip before bringing it to the dealer for service within the warranty period hehe, they'll probably never find out.

yup, the trade off is increased fuel consumption.Originally Posted by BlueBimmer

Currently there isn't any plug n play units avail for the VVTI. There are hard wired in units available though.Originally Posted by wilcats

yes, there are applications for n/a cars. chips or ecu upgrades simply optimize your engine's functions for power (and not necessarily for fuel efficiency and reduced emissions).Originally Posted by quiksie
be aware that 30 hp upgrades are highly unlikely on non-turbo engines, because besides remapping, the turbo ecu upgrades also increase the boost pressures for a turbo. i was about to say that 30 hp sounds like a bs claim for just a chip, until mbt mentioned the fortuner was a turbo.
Pwede as long as meron siyang ECU.Originally Posted by quiksie

Think Superchips is distributed by Mancor, which has moved to Fairview under the name Auto technica. Not sure of current prices but was about P30-35k before.
Guess one should weigh if cost is worth the increase in hp vs a loss of warranty. Check reviews, not all chips work as claimed.
And the increase in fuel consumption. :sigh:Originally Posted by jackaroo

Just because an engine is highly tuned that doesn't mean it will be more fuel hungry.
Generally speaking, a properly tuned engine is more efficient in terms of fuel consumption.
