Same experience here. The M/T gas really struggles on steep inclines especially when loaded. Katakot nga pag full stop and on incline. Parang aatras with konting nginig pero di naman, have to turn off the aircon for added power. However, the car is really worry free, low maintainance and solidly built (2008 model). Sold it and replaced with D4D A/T. I was pleasantly surprised how effortless it takes the steep inclines (fully loaded with aircon on) and even accelerates while navigating portions of marcos hiway where the gas would run out of breath.Acceleration on long stretches is also good and never felt lacking. The good thing about the A/T is the sudden burst of speed between 80 - 120 kph which is the usual overtaking speed you need in real road scenario( hindi ka mabibitin ).At 100kph, the rpm hovers at 2000 compared to manual diesel at 3000 which translate to less noise. It begins to loose steam beyond 140kph and tops out at 160 kph(the gas version at 170 kph- very boomy noise at this speed).Downside would be the noise and minor vibrations which are absent in the gas. Also note that staying above 100kph,gas consumption significantly increases compared to the diesel.

Halos same tayo although d4d sa amin. Daily travel ng innova namin maikli lang. 2-5 kms lng kaya 8km/l lng. Pag long drive 14-15km/l.

800 meters x 4 per day for 30 days, 7.5 km/l Shell V Power Nitro.. Yung FX na 2C nga na 10km per liter sa 2km x 2 per day for 30 days, ngayun sa 800 meters per day for 30days eh nasa 8.5 km/l na lang..

I take it anywhere, walang katakot takot na may masisira (although nagpalit nako cooling coil ng AC, that's about it). Last time may nag vibrate akala ko kung ano na, hindi lang pala na-lock ng maigi lagayan ng air filter (after that OK na). Consumes 8km/l, but I frequently travel alone naman. It has thread the whole of Luzon already. Very durable car. I don't know if the much more fuel efficient D4d is about as cheap to maintain cos it has turbo, CRDi with very delicate injectors etc.
my d4d MT does at least 10 km/li in the city. its turbo, CRDI and injectors are 95T Km old, and haven't given me any trouble yet.
perhaps the only "problem" it has given me, is the sidewalk emissions test person, who insisted i have my emissions certificate renewed every 3 months. (Bwahahaha...!)
i suppose the innova has been good to both you and me..

Diesel innova for me. Rode one yesterday. A J manual model. Was never short of power for city driving.

I'll choose an Innova E/J D4-D anytime since I'm sure it will last longer than the cheapest Sorento.

Lack of power pa ba sayo sir ang 180kph?

Minsan nga wala pa akong nakikita pagpapunta at pauwi ako galing office.. mas marami pa akong nakikitang subaru kesa sorento..

Wala akong innova pero i don't bash them as if i experienced owning one. ;) to be on topic, i won't be in the market for diesels if i were to buy one.
