just my 2 cents...
So What is the difference in buying 2nd hand cars from japan and local 2nd hand cars? Malaki ba? Conversion lang ba ang difference nila? Kung conversion lang, will a good conversion make subic vehicles like "local" 2nd hand vehicles? lastly, is there such a thing as "good" conversion? thanks. M also thinking about 2nd hand cars vs subic cars.Originally Posted by mugen

meron nagsabi nila madali daw mag-crumple or similar to that yung 2L-TE engine.. sa piston yata.. forgot the exact name..
I got my surf SSRX (2L engine) about 2 years ago from Subic, (directly from importer, but not from auction). Repairs I did after buying is only tightening of 1 loose fitting on my steering hose. Wala naman akong naging problema maliban dun.
maraming beses ko nang ginamit sa long trips, including twice from makati to cavite to olongapo to baguio then back to cavite then makati.
I didn't try to calculate e. Pero sa fuel cost ay parehas lang siya nung civic lxi (1.5L) ng esmi ko (comparison based on long trips from & to Cavite - Olongapo).Originally Posted by popoyn

buying a 2nd hand vehicle from subic daw KILLS the local automotive industry.
There is NO good conversion. If you can just witness how they convert the vehicles, you wont even buy it.
i own a hilux surf 2L-TE engine for three years.in my opinion swertehan lang pagbili ng car either local or imported (subic cars).nauwi ko na ung surf ko sa province for three times na,960 kms. balikan in one trip.i bought the unit from the importer.i had no major repairs nagpalit lang ako ng tires & overhaul the radiator kase makalawang at meron butas hindi naman nag-ooverheat.pinacheck ko din ung conversion sa mechanic ko kase nga converted ok naman ang ginamit na kase conversion kit is for left hand drive.if you really like a hassle free car buy a new one.
There is a lot of resources and arguments that have been made here regarding converted cars. Search through the forums and most anyone can make an educated decision.
There are good experiences and horribble ones, the good thing is 1. that its easy to spot a bad apple and 2. lots to choose from, try sticking with units that are sold locally also (engine and chassis type) so parts are easy.
A good conversion is possible only if you know how to do it yourself. You cannot trust anyone with it. You can ask your mechanic to do it, but you still must understand the process and how things are supposed to work even before your mechanic starts explaining.
Here at sork, I can just stand at the ER and lose track of how many bad conversions come my way everyday. You'd be surprised these guys made it to the hospital.

converted vehicles really scares me. I tried driving a pajero 3dr converted. may delay pag nililiko and nanginginig. I would invest my money buying an orig LHD or a brand new car
just my 2 cents
be safe, look for a 4runner orig lhd, jst a little bit more in price. i know some people selling, pm me if interested or contact 09223044193
hahaha. my bro has a subic pajero.
agree ako kay rheas. in general, lahat ng ginawa ng hapon for their own consumption is much better and cheaper than the one for export . this is one of their economic strategy. matibay at mura para sa sarili at mahal at shorter life span para sa iba. siyempre depende rin sa competition abroad. kaya dito sa pinas we used to be 5 years behind sa modelo ng japan until tumindi ang competition .
we just have to be very carefull with the conversion. this is where jga22bo come in and streamline all the commercialized conversion. these are facts and not a paid ad by joseph
Just my observation. Peace sisters.
