Finally! A true Starex competitor! I wonder how much it will cost though.

Our hardworking Granvia has always been without a bonneted successor, besides the decade old Starex, til now.

With the introduction of the gas-only Alphard, Toyota has been missing out on the diesel SBV market for almost two decades now. While this did not stop the current Hiace from making a killing in our market, it is kind of a bummer for those of us who dislike the absence of a hood. Our 21 year old Granvia has actually served us really well as a harabas vehicle with absolutely no engine and transmission problems since acquisition 2 years/18000kms ago. Many of our business associates have Starex's. The general consensus among them is that the Starex is a comfortable and powerful van, but with poor long term reliability. But since they have money, they buy, use for 3-5 years, sell, and then buy a new Starex again. [emoji23]

If this hooded Hiace materializes here, it would seem that we wouldn't have to replace Starex's once every 5 years when the Granvia finally conks out after all. [emoji23]

This is a rendering that I’ve seen so far. I’ve been waiting for this to replace my 10yr old Grand Starex
