i want to remove the chrome garnish/mouldings (not sure what the exact term for it) in my car(innova).. side mirrors, door handles, grill, etc. its just that if i remove them im sure it will leave marks because of the double sided tape used in it and a result of uneven paint. is there any easy diy that i can do to make it look like it has not been there? or the only solution to it is to have repainted just to even up the color?

why not try cleaning the marks using Wipeout, MC cleaner, or car polish?

Patience is the key bro. using an old rag soaked in lukewarm water will help. Medyo matagal lang. Why not try approaching detailing shops, they'll remove it evenly.

Naku sir ang mahirap dyan is yung sa side mirror na part. done that sa Altis ko since mom ko una gumamit. If your worried kung magiiwan sya ng mark eh dont be since natatanggal sya kahit ng tubig at kuskusin lang ng face towel. pero ingat lang since kakailanganin mo ng long object para tuklapin yung sa side mirror na part thus may risk na magasgasan yung side mirror mo... yung sakin unfortunately nagkaroon ng parang nakayod na part pero sa handle wala naman. good luck!

thanks bluerolla for the input. actually, everyone in the family seems to be liking the garnish. ako lang talaga ang ayaw.. gusto ko simple lang. pati ung sa grills.. lahat meron chrome garnish.. gusto ko stock-looking lng.. kaso baka pumangit pag tinanggal ko.. mag-iwan ng mga marks at gasgas..

No problem with the marks. Madaling tanggalin yun. pero yung gasgas. That im not sure kasi yung sakin mismo eh nagasgasan ko. I also tried na patanggal sa mga detailing shop pero ayaw nilang tanggapin siguro takot din sila magasgasan...

yun lang. yun din talaga worry.. its like i just have to settle with it na lang. sa katagalan kasi gasgas na din yung chrome garnish nya.. pangit na rin tignan.. although pag malayo eh ok pa rin tignan kasi you hardly see the scratches.. pero maglapitan eh ampangit tignan kasi gasgas talga...

I'd suggest to just leave it on as it is, tutal dagdag protection na din. Pag tumagal na at pag naka park under the sun ang kotse medyo hihina na ang adhesive. Siguro after 2-3 years pwede na mag attempt na alisin with lesser risk, kasi mahina na yung pandikit.
