even Toyota has some failures too, case in point: the entry-level Toyota ECHO in the US. the sales total is so pathetic right now that delaers have dropped the car from their lineups. toyota also does not display this car in showrooms or even sit in the delears' lots, the ECHO is only made when ordered.
in 2000, Toyota came out with its Genesis Project to convert Gen Y individuals to the Toyota fold. they even came out with a new website: Isthistoyota.com to introduce the Mr2 Spyder, new Celica and the ECHO. well, all three are gone with the ECHO going away this year.
goodbye Toyota ECHO, wonder if this small car is successful in other markets like the Philippines?

The Echo was never very successful in the US... really bad looks and stiff ride.

Too bad about the Celica, though...

the Echo hatch and the Echo Verso was not sucessful here in RP because it was expensive, more expensive than the XE AE111 Corolla.

Corolla XE AE111 has airbags while Echo hb has non.

Guess it goes to show the value of timing and market needs... Honda's Jazz is about as expensive as the Echo, but it's what the market wants now, so it's selling like hotcakes... even though it is ludicrously expensive for a 1.3 supermini.

add to that a very effective sales pitch of 61~62 whatever km/liter mileage..
