Hi fellow Tsikot members,
Ride: Toyota Corolla GLi 95
Tatanong ko lang if, as the thread title says,
if the sensor sa airfilter (i dunno what its called actually )
ay nakaka-affect ba sa FC or idle ng auto?
Tinignan ko kc and putol n ung isang wire mula dun sa socket,
Meron ba nabibili nito n replacement or original?
nagtanong kasi ako sa toyorama banawe, wala daw sila.
kung meron po kayo alam kung saan pede bumili and how much, papost po sir/maam,
if wala talaga, ill just settle nalang sa surplus.
or pede pa ba ipa-repair sa auto electrician ung ganun? mula kasi sa puno yung putol eh.
maraming salamat po.

The sensor will affect the FC of your car. IF the sensor is damaged or failed to send signals, the engine ecu will revert back to a default/safe setting for air/fuel ratio. This default/safe setting will let your engine run well enough but fuel economy will suffer a bit because it will not be able to adjust to existing conditions.

the sensor you are referring to is called intake air temperature sensor (IAT). yes, it does affect the fuel consumption. it will use a default value and not effectively adjust fuel delivery as much. yes it can be repaired. from what i am understanding, it is the wiring to the sensor that probably got frayed which you can carefully splice the stubby wire by soldering to the wire if broke off from. chances are the sensor is still okay (IAT's) hardly break. of course, your MIL (malfunction indicator light) will be illuminated until the problem is repaired.
that may be, but we all got plastic, young and old. we asked the lto guy, "papel ba po, o...
