hi there, im contemplating on getting a pickup truck within the next few weeks or months.. but im kinda confused on which one to buy. i limited my choices to the Toyota Hilux G 3.0L Diesel 4X4 A/T and the Mitsubishi Strada 3.2L 4X4 A/T. yeah you could say that test driving the said pickup trucks would definitely be the clincher, but i would like to gather some of your inputs.

thanks in advance for the replies.

Strada is my choice. More powerful with class leading comfort, if its the 3.2 variant youre getting.

D-max okay din naman. I prefer the D-max over the Hi-lux if youre not that much into offroading.

strada 3.2 4x4 glx-manual for maximized power and efficiency! pero kung a/t ok lang din...

masyadong over-hype na toyota ngayon...mas madami pang extras ang strad(like the power rear window and center guage console nya)

You might want to consider the Ford Ranger 3.0 TDCi 4x4. Best in class torque, imho. The only I dislike about the Ranger is the ancient hand twist operated parking brakes and its higher floor (therefore smaller cabin space but excellent ground clearance for off roading).

TopGear Phils did a shoot-out comparison bet. the three pickups: 1st Ford Ranger, 2nd Toyota Hilux 3rd. Mitsu Strada.

The Strada is also nice with its storm trooper fascia, but its interior is a big let down as well as it short pick-up bed (if one really uses this). Most people also say, the Hilux is really bumpy in the rear, esp. when its cargo bed is unladen.

ako...hilux..pero maganda un loob ng strada compared sa hilux..sa horsepower lamang pa rin ata hilux if yuor into speed,sa torque lamang ang strada since 3.2L na sya..pero sa tuning ng aftermarket parts..mas marami pwede ma ikabit sa hilux..since almost the same ang under carriage nila sa tacoma ..also sa topgear they tested the hilux sa northpole..yun pinsan ni peternorth hehehehe joke... test drive mo muna bro strada and hilux,dmax,ford..then u decide which pick-up u want based on yuor usage...

Always have the end result in mind. Afterwards, do reverse engineering to know how to achieve it.

What will the car be used for, what would you like it to have? etc.

but if you ask me get 3.2 strada!

may Tire Pressure Monitoring System din ang top of the line Strada, believe me very useful ito sa outlander ko, i can check on the tire pressure on the fly kahit bilis pa takbo ko sa mga long drives. peace of mind = priceless

Strada na yan, value for money kesa sa overpriced Hilux.

hindi naman forte ng toyota ang diesel saka pickup, kaya lang sumikat hilux kasi nauna siya magpalit noon. walang binatbat previous gen hilux sa previous gen strada. so I guess, limit your choice with the Pajero maker

+1... what do you want a pickup for?

If you're buying it as a daily driver and will only use it as a pickup occassionally, the Strada is perhaps the best choice. Mitsubishi DiDs feel a lot like gas engines (smooth, seamless) and Mitsubishi has managed to give the Strada a nice buttery suspension. Handling is decent, considering the soft set-up.

The Hilux has the best seating space, but the unladen ride is nothing short of awful. Good engine for highway use, but the automatic transmission lag is pretty bad. Pretty stable, though.

I think the D-Max's suspension is more comfortable than the Hilux's, but the Hilux and Strada have it beat on rear seat.

If you're buying it for the looks, a Strada or a Hilux would do.

If you're buying it for the power to haul a lot of stuff and off-road ability, the Ranger is the best out there at the moment. Heavy duty suspension, but the ride isn't too bad, terrific engine (faster than the Hilux... and it drifts, too, thanks the rear LSD... :naughty2: ) and good off-road ability. Actually, that LSD is the best reason to get the Ranger... as it gives you good traction on slippery surfaces, making it more forgiving than the others in terms of handling.

But you might want to wait for the Nissan Frontier Navarra and see if that'll fit you. It doesn't look to be as spacious as the Hilux or as stylish as the Strada, but it claims to have everything beaten on power. We'll see if that's true when it comes out.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

The 3.2 Strada does come with a standard LSD.

But again, you'd have to ask yourself what you are going to use if for and which of them makes you feel better.

I'd take a Strada 3.2 A/T if I ever have to make the choice.

    Oh... LSD na yun?

Then that's probably your best bet if you're looking for a family-use pickup... still not as utilitarian as a Hilux, DMax or Ranger, but your butt will thank you for it.
