March 9th, 2011 04:55 PM #1Guys I need help and opinion regarding what I have experiencing on my corolla gl (small body).. Here is the scenario, let say nagdridrive ako for 2-3hrs continuously then suddenly mag drop drop ang rpm ko and my engine shuts off. Then I’ll be having a hard time to start the engine. The engine cranks but ayaw tumuloy. After 15 minutes engine starts again pero parang palyado sya and after looking sa spark plug all 4 is soaked with carbon.
List of I’ve done to eliminate this unusual thing.
1. replace HT wires
2. replace spark plug
3. replace ignition coil (circuit brand).. kasi eto ang tingin kong culprit of problem.
Tapos another thing pa na naramdaman ko is after replacing my ignition coil, once in a while my rpm seems so restless, malikot sya even pakiramdam ko sa makina is stable naman.

Sabi mo after 2-3 hours of driving, then suddenly, your engine shuts off. Sobrang init na nung ignition coil mo, burdened sya masyado. My question: (1) nasa tamang air gap ba ang contact point mo? (2) meron bang resistor yung ignition coil mo (the white rectangular one)?
Try to adjust the idle mixture screw (2 1/2 to 3 turns paluwag..sikipan mo muna then paluwag).

March 10th, 2011 08:07 PM #6macgyver..
thanks for a wonderful input... bale yun distributor ko has a ignition coil na nasa loob ng distributor, nasa loob sya ng distributor cap pag ikinabit. At napansin ko rin may two wires na connected sa ignition coil ko ng inalis ko ito, nasa lower part sya ng distributor, I think eto yun sinasabi based sa mga forum na igniter or ignitor. yes tama ka nasa loob nga ang ignition coil ko so ibig sabihin ba nito electronic ang distributor ko? So im not using contact point anymore. May nabanggit ka rin na spark plugs gap, right now kasi I'm using ngk long tip na plugs. Hope this will help para maidentify mo.
thanks mac

Ang recommended spark plug type for 4A engine is: (1) NGK type: BCRE527Y or BKR6EYA... (2) DENSO type: QJ16AR-U or K20R-U.
See this link para sa spark plug gap: http://www.google.com.ph/imglanding?...w=1280&bih=864
Add ko itong link for spark plug analysis: http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/engine/plugs.html

i will muna adjust the air from carb.. then siguro linisin ko muna yun wiring ng pinagkabitan ko ng coil.. makikiramdam muna ako.. sana may problem will solved by replacing that ignition coil.. wag nman sana sira ang igniter ko kasi mukang mahal ito.. thanks a lot.
