just came from baguio this weekend to check on the progress of the work.
the saginaw power steering is now operational, lambot na ng manibela even with 32x11.5 wheels. also the reverse shackle conversion was in the finishing stage.
this week, 2 inch body lift.
the week after, paint and electricals.
edwin, i'll have the airconditioning fitted over at Pampanga. how many days will it take kaya. next will be a snorkel, budget permitting.
may i cut ka sa chassis to fit the steering box, but a little metal work and strenghtening will work out just fine. saw it done to a lot of competion rigs. but if for restoration work its better to put OEM power steering box.

think they mounted it with a scab plate for added strength.

landcruisers are the best off-road vehicles in the planet, especially the FJ40's. there even used in Antarctica! if u are planning to go off-roading, get one that has a 2F 6-cylinder gasoline engine. sobrang lakas ng makinang ito! parang V-8! pero malakas rin sa gasolina! if your going for economy get one with a 2B 4-cylinder Diesel engine. you'll be looking very macho without broken wallets! i know all these because i own one with the 2F gasoline engine and im planning to switch to the 2B diesel engine kasi namumulubi na ako sa gasolina! the best thing about landcruisers are there high resell value, kahit 1970's model ay worth 150-200k pa. goodluck
my initial impressions and observations on the saginaw power steering and reverse shackle conversion:
- real power steering. maybe overpowered. you can easily turn the steering wheel even with 32x10.5 mud wheels, with the stock steering stabilizer and the procomp ES2000 steering stab
- instead of the four (or is it five) tie rod ends, you end up with only three.
- no noticeable performance gains on the reverse shackle since it was only driven in the highway. maybe in the trails. but it the 40 doesn't dip its nose when braking hard. but that's just me.

sir jim, the mini cruiser is an equally capable off road vehicle in my book. too bad all military issues of the mini cruiser don't have their 4x4 systems working na.

You will notice steering wheel reaction will be reverse from standard shackles.
Sample:
Hitting a rock with left front tire, normal steering wheel reaction should turn it counter clockwise. Pero sa reverse front shackles, steering wheel reaction tend to flick it clockwise.
But not all reversed shackles tend to have the same gravity. It also depends how long the shackles are and stiff spring rates. The most common noticeable difference is the vehicle dip during braking. Even engine brake can dip the front ends.

Originally posted by quindoyos stock pa rin sa likod sir, but sa harap, think they modified it to suit the reverse shackle mod. sa tingin ko mga 3 inches lang, front and back.
i have a pair of "H" design shackles
about 5 inches.

kahit papano siguro may effect din
pero para sakin ang stiffness depends on the leafspring and shock absorbers. minimal lang sa shackles. wag lang mawala sa angle yung shackle.
