How to check the proper level of automatic transmission? Others say while engine is off best in the morning. Others say while engine is running, run thru all gears then neutral. But in the morning, level is way above the hot level mark. While running, i cant find the right level because of the splatter. Can anyone enlighten me please....

wala naman current problem, just to check the fluid level.
i dont have record of fluid replacement kasi.
    95k odo reading sya ngayon.
and yes meron cold and hot yung dip stick.

i recon from overnight not running, the reading should be in between
the cold mark, but it's way over the hot mark.

i tried reading it after using the car, it still read way over the hot mark.

i tried reading it with engine running and neutral gear, but the fluid
splatter on the stick made it impossible to decipher.

i dont want to replace the fluid just to know the proper level, but
    maybe im going there anyway.

COLD or HOT?

I ask one of the Brand New Owner of INNOVA. (3 months old)
Before sya nag drive above HOT ang ATF nya.
After Driving above HOT pa rin ATF. halos same lang daw ang taas.
    (Sobra daw estimate half inch)

    Weird TOYOTA.

if i'm not mistaken, nasa taas ang hot (di ko na sure kasi manual na oto ko). pareho ito ng dipstick ng power steering fluid, may hot at cold. sa pagkakaalala ko, pag nag tsek ako ng ATF level in the morning, engine cold, mataas talaga ang level.

para mas accurate ang reading, try mo start ang engine, wait until the temp gauge reaches normal operating temp, then shift to drive, tapos tsaka mo sukatin, syempre patulong ka na lang na meron magbrake at mag shift.

try mo amuyin ATF fluid, kung amoy sunog na or maanggo, or iba na kulay, palitin na. siguro wag mo na paabutin ng 40k, every 20k palitan mo na. as i've said, mas mura magpalit ng ATF kesa magkaproblem transmission.

smell isnt burnt, pero brownish color, and shifting is not really delayed.
fuel consumption is between 10 to 11 km/li, not bad i think for an old car.
baka nga sobra atf nito, kasi pag cold sya approx 1 inch over sa hot level. nagworry lang ako baka magleak sa engine pag over sa aft. try ko this sunday to replace aft fluid, then post ko nalang result. maybe others
    experiance this issue din.
this is my first automatic car kasi, nakakapagod na kasi magdrive sa traffic with a manual trans.
    thanks for the advice..
