i'm an owner of revo sr 2004 model diesel...i went home last xmas sa nueva ecija and upon returning home d2 sa manila, we took 5 hours driving...3pm to 8 pm...meaning i used aircon, fog lights, headlights and sounds as well... upon reaching home and unloaded our things, i tried to restart the engine to park the auto but the engine won't start and the battery was dead... upon checking out to yocks electrical, they want to convert the voltage regulator to ic regulator...ok lng ba un? mas maganda po ba un? they've checked the battery...sabi sa motolite, mahina kumarga and natatalo ung input or recharging sa lakas ng output...ano kaya maganda doon...nakahiwalay pa kc ang voltage regulator ng revo ko...stock sya...ang sabi sa yocks, lumang klase na daw un, ang bago ay mga ic regulator-built-in na sa alternator... does anyone tried to convert from voltage to IC-regulator...pls help...matibay kaya kung papa convert ko? advantages and disadvanteages? tnx po sa madaliang pagsagot sa problem ko...salamuch po mga sirs and experts...hapi new year...

    revo sr,
i'm a bit surprised your car is a 2004 model and is still using electromechanical voltage regulator. conversion or rather modernization of your voltage regulator is long overdue. it is more reliable, faster response (turns on and off hundreds or thousands of times per second) to regulate your charging voltage, lighter, does not need readjustment. but with your additional loads, you not only need a new V/R but you need to upgrade your alternator output. is there really fog between nueva ecija and manila? just curious

My Toyota 5K engine Alternator has been replace by a Nissan 70 ampere surplus alternator Seven years ago so far i had no problem . I already talk to the auto electrician once the alternator worn out or malfunction tha common cause is IC , Stator and Carbon brush.

IC voltage regulator is efficient but if that is not originally installed in your alternator I adviced you to install what is original.
Moreover, dont rely on our filipino auto-electrician workmanship.
At if your regulator will be converted to IC pls pls po, most likely wiring of your alternator will be altered which I am afraid might give U future problem.

To be safe po, put the original parts

    Sir,

Kumusta na Revo niyo? Ano ginawa niyo?
