All New Toyota Corolla Cross

This guy bought the T Cross Hybrid. He claimed with some math that after 5 years the 300k+ additional price tag of the hybrid will be recovered based on the fuel savings. Seems too good to be true.

He also said Toyota PH is now giving the hybrid batter 8 years warranty. True?

Better argument is that the 300k premium over the G variant must also factor in the additional features not just fuel savings. The extra you pay gets you the Toyota Safety Sense, better audio system, upgraded 18” wheel and tyre package. By experience, my hybrid can do an easy 15-17km liter in City, and 20km/l upwards in highway driving.

The non-hybrid Corolla Cross is too expensive if you compare it against the Territory, Coolray etc
way too expensive against the Xpander (GLS) and Avanza

Pero the Hybrid Version is reasonable.

My sister had a Honda Civic 9th gen with the hybrid battery. She bought last 2011. The issues she had with the car were mostly from the engine and not with the hybrid system. It had very excellent fuel.

I wonder if the Cross engine is direct injection only, or is it using the newer port+direct injection system.

For long term ownership I would prefer the Cross (hybrid or not) over those tech-heavy turbocharged Chinese brand crosover. Those carbon deposit gunk is going to be worse with turbocharged direct injection petrol engines.

Kudos to Toyota PH planners for keeping the infotainment system similar across the range. They even provided a basic reverse camera! The other toys I can live without.

Personal opinion, if you can charge at home and don't mind the vehicle's resale value... yes, an EV is a good choice for the city

An EV for city driving sounds very good in theory and we've been seriously considering them especially since some good models are at the 1M-1.5M bracket. Charging is not a problem because we have our own garage.

The main blocker is the projected resale value. This will be the wife's company benefit so we plan to replace her car every 5 years. We just traded in our 6-year-old ICE SUV for less than half the original SRP. We knowingly took a big hit when we let it go because I didn't want to deal with the hassle of selling it ourselves. The new car will most probably be traded in as well when the time comes. If we get an EV now how will the resale prices look like down the road? The buyer will definitely check the battery health much like they check the mileage of ICE cars. Who will want shell out more than the car's worth for a new battery when it dies?

this is my biggest complain with EVs... the whole vehicle will be disposed later.

All cars depreciate either it be ICE, Hybrid or EV.
Sadly you will never get a good price if you trade in your car whatever make or model it is.
kahit Land Cruiser LC200/LC300 pa yan or Alphard i guarantee babaratin ka sa trade in price niyan.

Will the EV have better or worse resale value in 6 years time? no one knows. Maybe. Maybe not.
All depends on market movements in the next couple of years.

most EV have battery warranty of 8 years.
Since you will sell it way before then so you shouldn't be too worried about battery health.

Assuming it doesn't burn or explode first ... you'd probably get 20% of value ... if there's even a buyer at all ... China vehicles have little resale value ... then add the EV depreciation ...

Shame they could have went with the fortuner V(that is not mentioned in brochures at all) route of offering non-radar cruise in non-ADAS equipped variants.

kasi the Livina at 1.2M is basically the old Xpander without cruise control
