Can't decide which diesel to get. Although my budget is only for the Innova or the Fortuner, gusto ko ang Prado and I'm willing to take risks to get one.

But is choosing the Prado over the other two a wise decision? Help me out guys.

parang de-tuned 1kd-ftv ang nasa fortuner/hilux,e...alam ko japan CBU pa ang prado, not thailand.just like the previa..

If you can stretch your budget, go get the Prado.

Medyo malakas lang sa diesel yung prado kasi underpowered for such a heavy body.

I'd say stretch the budget and go for a Prado. But don't go for the one sold by Toyota Motors Phils, coz it's underspec'd. Go for the gray market ones with the 4.0L V6 or the 3.0L D-4D engine. Aside from the more powerful engines, they've got more features. The TMP Prado is quite bare, although it's about as spec'd as the 4x4 Fortuner. If that's enough for you, then go for it. It's got about 30 horses less than the 3.0L Fort, but it's torquey enough to keep you happy at most speeds and while loaded.

I agree with IMM29 that the TMPI sourced Prado is underspeced as compared to its competitors. The similarly priced Murano, Expedition, VeraCruz, Pilot, Patrol, etc. offer better engines with a lot more amenities.

Though a jump from your budget for an Innova (800K) & Fortuner (1.6M) to a Prado is quite big though. Baka hindi mo kayanin in the long run. We know of someone who bought a Prado na pinagpilitan... after a while binenta din at hindi kinaya ang maintenance & insurance.

If you like a better ride go for the Prado. If you're practical, The fort is ok

Mildseven, my two cents worth. Dont stretch ur budget, kung anong swak sa budget yun lang. The difference in the amount is not worth it, buti sana kung kikita yung difference na yun and it can self-liquidate itself then its okey. Why not broaden your choices : Tucson, Santa Fe, or Everest =)

    kha,
sorry dude, dunno the rates of the non-TMPI versions.

    ersatz0906,
that comment was referring to the choking problems some D-4D units are experiencing.

boss, tip lang on budget and expenses regardless of what car you buy.....

for me, being able to afford does not only mean i can pay for it in cash. being able to afford is being able to buy an item in cash AND not feel a pinch on your finances. it just doesnt make any sense na bibili ka nga ng prado pero hirap ka naman o pamilya mo sa pambili ng pagkain. u may not be able to go to the places your family go. you may not be able to buy the small "luho" you occasionally enjoy buying. you may not be able to afford taking your family to a vacation. you may not be able to do as much as you want coz kapos ka na sa pera.

baka ikaw lang ang masisiyahan sa prado mo. if buying it affects your family in whatever way, wag nalang.

    just my 2 cents boss.

Well, there were initial reports of Innova, then Fortuner D-4D choking issues reported in tsikot. I'm not sure if these were all resolved already and how they were resolved. Since a 3.0L D-4D Prado can be sourced via the gray market, the same choking problem may occur. Of course the chances of this happening aren't gonna be too big.

Refer to this thread to see for yourself the choking problems of D4D engines.

Haven't heard of choking problems with the non-CRDI local Prados.
