Yes, it is normal for passengers to be able to unlock their doors in a power door lock equipped vehicle even if the driver does not use the central unlocking feature from the driver side lock. HTH

Some do and some don't ... it depends on the power lock mechanism.

Those who use the motor-driven helix-cogwheel combination are not designed to be manually actuated. Although possible, it is not recommended because manually forcing movement will tend to damage the mechanism. This type is usually found on after-market installs.

yes that is normal, and the main reason for that is safety or emergency if anything happen to the driver,so they can manually operate the door lock/unlock button without the assistance of the driver except if the car is equipped with courtessy lock, even if the passenger can unlock the door but they cannot be able to open the door from the inside.

Usually, only European cars employ a 'deadbolt' system on their cars wherein the other locks cannot be forced manually once the driver's door is locked. However, most of these systems only activate when the car is parked and locked as an anti-theft feature.

    depende po yan sa design.
for example, in my previous besta, locking the driver's door, locks all the other doors. unlocking the driver's door, unlocks all the other doors. but each of the other doors can be locked and unlocked independent of the other by pulling the particular door's lock.
in the innova (and i suppose other toyotas), locking the driver's door, locks only the driver's door. but pressing the main lock button (this is not the same as the driver's door lock) locks and unlocks all the 4 doors and rear trunk. and using the innova's remote key fob, you can also lock and unlock all doors at the same time. but each door can be locked and unlocked by pulling onto the particular door's lock. there ain't no mechanism that locks the doors and traps the passengers inside, just like in the movies. hindi ho papasa sa safety board ito.
as to window glass, the innova's and besta's drivers can up or down each door window glass using a switch beside him. but only the innova driver can also freeze all the glass windows open or close or part open, just by pressing a main button beside him.
    iba iba pong design yan...
as to child locks, the child lock is controlled by a lever, usually under the locking mechanism under the door curve, above the wheel well, opposite the locking plate. every car manual shows you where this is. moving the lever one direction disables the ability to open the door from the inside. pushing the lever the other way, enables door opening from both inside and outside the door.
