Lets do this as a scientific method instead of he says vs she says, Ive been playing with 4ag's for 6 yrs now and I'll say I'm still fascinated on this motor vs every other motor I've own. Dyno sheets are best way to tell the truth note that all measurements are done by WHP (wheel horse power)

The blacktop 20V is a very good motor, has a very good mid to high trq range, but on the lower end trq not much. For personal experience what I like about it is you can maintain or stay on a high rev band, blacktop is more tune able than the silvertop due to its MAF. Not bad for 134whp open ITB's

4yrs ago I had a stock 4agze from an AE101 w/ a MAP ECU is good, it has a lower to mid range trq. I remember a friend drove my car saying instant trq, I say its not as responsive as i like it to be but Ill fix that. 160whp is not much but I wanted more than 157 lbs trq

3 years ago my brother talked to me wanted to have a every competitive motor more than what his 4ag red top high comp motor. at that same year a topic appeared on club4ag about most N2 AE86 are running 16V 4ag's, that makes very good amount of hp and trq. so we researched from internet to buying all volumes of the levin trueno magazines. we came across i think on vol#8 or 9 a shop from japan made a hybrid 4age, basically took all the good parts from all 4ag's 16v and 20V and combined them all to make a 16V hybrid. so we looked at each other and set to copy that, on the article i says he used a 20V silvertop bottom block (knowing this we found out that the silvertop block is stronger than the blacktop), a blacktop crank (due to its lightness) & blacktop Connecting Rod (lighter than the silvertop) by using the club4ag forum as our market place we got all what we needed after 6 months. what we end up is this "a weird looking 16V"


so to see how competitive this motor is we took it to 4ag challenge on willow springs track, best of the best 4ag's are tested










We didn't finish first but 5th will do w/ all oem internals put together, the information we got made up from all long moths and hard work.

ok. ilang naman kayang 2zz-ge meron sa surplus ngayon let alone yun supercharged? at assuming mkahanap nga baka naman napaka mamahal pa nyan dahil kabago bago pa nun makina.

sir bago lang po ako d2 any advise nman sir regarding sa engine swap..my car is also xl bigbody but silvertop lng po yun gusto ko ipalit kc medyo mabigat yata yun blacktop according to you when it comes spending money...more or less magkano yun ilalabas kong pera not included yun modification cguro after n lng yun basta tumakbo lng muna ng maayos yun oto..w/o modification...saka nga pala sir advise din po between blocktop and silvertop when it comes po sa horse power nya and fuel consumption..thnks po sir!

sir medyo parehong bangka tayo. noon kino-consider ko pa nga din 3sge para swap kaso mahal na masyado. ang laki kasi ng price difference ng black at silvertop for a few HP gained. wala naman ako balak mag modify masyado siguro bolt-on lang at the most kaya silvertop nalang. may nabasa ako dito sa tsikot noon na for a big body or sa case ko nga corona macho pa (tipid sa tranny dahil 3AU na hehe) get a sliver or black top for that matter then keep it stock it is already a powerful engine. it will serve you well reliably just be sure to do regular maintenance.

new owner here of AE101 GLI with 4AGE 20V ST, has minor problem
Speedo, tacho not functioning-I need to check on this kasi gumagana naman ang Odometer and trip meter
any Idea if this is only wiring problem?

vibrating clutch-its vibrating specially if I will slowly release the clutch, grabi yung vibration, siguro dapat kung palitan ang clutch

my ingay smy valve cover cgro dapat i adjust sa valve clearance

other than that, only minor paint scratch problem
