good evening! i have a an issue on my 1990 Toyota Corolla EE90 with a 2E engine.

rough idling, i changed all of my vacuum hoses, PCV hoses (even installed a DIY Oil Catch can using a fuel filter), cleane d the carb, and adjusted the air/fuel mixture and idle speed pero di talaga ma-stabilize yung idle, na overhaul na yung carb last april plus change oil and tune-up.

yung idling nya parang may sinok..

things starting going bad after you changed a few things. so, it must be one of those things you did...
if you did not touch the fuel tank, then most likely it's not the tank.

oil catch? hindi ba may direction yon? baka baliktad...

btw, i hope you did not use any gasketmaker paste... it wreaks havoc on the jets..

poor idling? but ok when running at speed? sounds like fuel starvation of the idling circuit.

all i did was replace all the worn out vacuum hoses and pcv hoses (plus installed the oil catch can)

i used a fuel filter and followed the directions of the arrow (yung arrow going to the engine)

yes i used silicon gasket paste (kasi malaki yung diameter ng lumen ng hose compara dun sa hose attachment ng oil catch can)

    fuel starvation?paano po yun?

silicon gasket softens when exposed to gasoline. and gets carried away into the carburetor, where it infiltrates minute fuel passages and clogs them...
i am not sure if those hoses in the picture connect to the carburetor...
but if this is what happened to your engine, then a re-overhaul of your carburator might be in order.
as a rule, i do not use silicon gasket in fuel lines or carburators.

but before you tear into that engine, check the electricals first. baka palpak lang ang kabit ng isang kable..

    good luck.

salamat po, actually yung nilagyan ko ng silicone gasket is yung pcv system, which goes i think directly to the intake manifold, i made sure na di papasok yung silicone gasket paste sa internals, i placed it far away from the hose lumen.

another issue: whenever i turn on the aircon, di ba ang normal reaction ng engine is to increase it's idle form 800 rm to about 900 rpm to compensate for the load of the a/c compressor? anways ganito nangyayari lately, pag bukas ng aircon aakyat saglit then magiging sobrang erratic yung idle tapos the engine would eventually die. This happens not only when the engine is cold but sometimes it happens after a long drive, especially kung titigil ako sa stop light or intersection, i checked to idle up mechanism umaandar naman, sinigad ko na yung screw sa maximum pero i only get at most 900 rpm, i checked the timing ok naman, is there any other things to check? would the idle up actuator be in fault? thanks again! happy new year!

Eto ang suggestion ko sa 'yo.

Kailangan mo ba i- hose clamp? Mahigpit ba lahat?

    2. Simulan mong tingan yung vacuum leaks mula sa intake, mula sa air cleaner to MAF to throttle body.

Amuyin mo yung basang spark plug o ipunas mo. May usok ba yung oto? Kung wala, baka gasolina yan. Unburnt fuel.

    Iba pang posibilidad.
    1. O2 sensor.
    2. Throttle position sensor.

salamat po sa inyo! i think my idling issue has been solved, the culprit all along was a rotten resonator

i overlooked this before not as soon i noticed smelling exhaust fumes and a unusual noise underneath the front passenger side. after some lengthy research, i found out that a busted exhaust system can contribute to poor idling, high fuel consumption, and noise. after asking many of my friends where to have my car checked they recommended Jomar's Exhaust Systems.

i brought my beloved EE90 to Jomar's and had my old resonator replaced with a new one. The result:

1.) no more rough idling issues!!! yehey!!

    2.) better engine response

    3.) quieter ride

4.) FC i still have to compute

basically, pag rough idling, its the spark plugs.
why not try to change them first?

Spark plug wires ever been changed? If you change them, use Toyota OEM or NGK brands if possible. You may also want to clean the fuel tank as well.

salamat sa replies, any ideas kung magkano magpalinis ng fuel tank?how do they do this anyways?pati ba fuel lilinisin din?
