i bet i learned more than you. (friendly smirk here.)
    i drove a beat-up ex-taxi of a ford escort!
one night, i drove my ex- GF home, after i wrapped some alambre around the escort's rack-and-pinion mechanism, because the retaining bolts gave way along the way.
i didn't know just how potentially dangerous that maneuver was...
by the time i shifted to a beat-up corona RT100, i had learned sufficiently enough from that escort. repairing and maintaining that corona was a relative walk in the park.

    one thing i learned,
"don't buy orphan cars". yung kotseng umeksit na ang dealer sa bansa.
no decent amount of money and searching, will be rewarded by the appropriate parts. (this was before internet, lazada and shopee.)

    ^agree.

BTT. Nag-mature na din itong 2022 Avanza.

IMO, the Avanza (and the Rush) are like modern successors of the Tamaraw FX

3rd Gen Avanza reminds me when the Revo was introduced...

Still checks the requirements of its target market, in a better package.

    doc,

Why i prefer sumabit kasi mas presko hangin.

But yung dx na mahaba eh lukewarm ako.

Year 2021 na doc, may hiya talaga madadama pag avanza, crosswind, adventure.

Sorry for the OT. pero naiintindihan kita in a way...

3 years ago, based pa kami overseas and wala kaming ma-rent na car for the weekend.
Thurs ng gabi nasa Manila kami and alis ulit ng Sunday (3 days)

nagdecide kami ng wife ko to buy a car para wala na kaming inintindi kapag nasa Pinas. pero since max 14 days a year lang kami nandito, I was thinking cheap - Mirage GLS or Celerio (both CVT)

on the flight to Manila, biglang sinabi ni Misis na nagmessage friend nya from Honda and nagkita kami... that very evening, linabas ko yung City from the dealership.

fast forward to 2021, na approve yung request ko for transfer dito and gamit ko na yung City. minsan, while nasa traffic, naiisip ko... buti hindi kami bumili ng Mirage or Celerio

If everyone had unlimited budget, nasa Euro car thread siguro tayo ngayon.

2 months na din akong naghihintay for a Vespa. so siguro same sa reason mo against the Avanza kung bakit ayoko ng NMax

Pero cars like the Avanza (Crosswinds, Adventure, FX etc) are focused sa specific market kaya mabenta sya. Toyota sold 5,531 Avanza's in 2020.

IMO, still better than taking public transport.

Isn't the Innova? Because in Indonesia their Innova was still called Kijang as in Kijang Innova, because the Philippine version of the Kijang is called the Tamaraw/FX/Revo

The Avanza meanwhile was a successor to the short wheelbase Kijang sold only in Indonesia.

Anyways you are right Avanza succeeds FXs as taxis. when taxi operators used FXs as "mega taxi" and now there are some taxis that are Avanzas.

Also the HSPUR/cab chassis version of the Tamaraw and its successor, the Hilux FX.

Agree, Tamaraw -> Revo -> Innova

Pero if you see the Innova now, wala na yung bare bones feel na you can easily associate with AUVs (Tamaraw, Revo, Adventure & Crosswind)

Dati, you buy an AUV and load ka kagad ng tao/cargo, although kaya naman ng Innova, the interior/ride/feel is much better compared sa AUVs. The Innova is more refined.

Now compared to the 1st 2 generations of the Avanza (and current gen Rush) medyo nandun pa yung feel ng Tamaraw/Revo

while toyota is pushing their safety features.. the cabin insulation on the innova is still "barebones"

Innova still has its feel of the Tamaraw/Kijang/Revo, although refined. Not just Rush and Avanza.

Maybe in the next Innova model update (another facelift) they might beef up Innova's safety features by equipping TSS and enhancing its cabin insulation.

I wonder if this is true.
