Hoping for better gas milage.confused!
Gas mileage should be your basis, list your expectations: from important to least important
1. safety
2. comfort
3. space
4. FC
5. parts
OT, sometimes it is also how you feel when you see the car, are you excited to drive it?
My ride is 10yrs old, but I love every minute of driving.
Mileage is based on several factors:
1. Tires - Wigo has skinny tires, this isn't the issue.
2. Weight - Negligible. They weigh the same.
3. Engine design - the Mirage 1.2 actually isn't as powerful as other modern 1.2s. Instead, they concentrated on making it ultra-efficient. This means that they optimized it for cruising rpm under the MIVEC activation (4k rpm) and the intake is absolutely tiny, even compared to some 1.0s. The Mirage exhaust is basically a straight pipe with NOTHING but a catalytic converter and a resonator. All the better for quicker exhaust scavenging and better efficiency.
4. Gearing - Wigo has pretty short gears. Mirage has longer gearing in both MT and CVT form.
5. Aerodynamics - It's pretty obvious when you look at them side-by-side, the Wigo's body is very squarish compared to the ultra-aerodynamic Mirage. Also, pay attention to the big grille. More gaping space there and less closed off area than the Mirage. The Wigo suffers a lot from aero-drag. Let off the gas to coast in neutral on the highway and it slows down more quickly and more dramatically than the MIrage.
The Mirage and Wigo are built to different targets. The Wigo is built to be as cheap as humanly possible. For that, they had to sacrifice some sophistication.
The Mirage is built to be as efficient as possible. This means more money spent on aerodynamics and engine engineering. Which is reflected in the price premium you pay versus the Wigo.
Consider, however, that even the base Mirage has a 1.2 liter motor, at just 500k. Everyone else is charging 600k for a 1.2.

Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Well I think sa heavy traffic yung halos nakastop lng mga sasakyan na parang parking lot (EDSA? :D), I think mas matipid ang Wigo sa Mirage. Just like other cars with smaller engine eon, alto, celerio, 1.0 spark, 1.0 picanto. Because I think yung idling sa traffic mas matipid maliit na makina.
Gusto natin moving. Now once gumalaw na ang sasakyan mas matipid ang Mirage because...
1.Better power to weight makes it easier to move from standing still meaning less revs needed less gas needed
2.Better aerodynamics makes it easier to break through air meaning wlang gaanong resistance sa hampas ng hangin. so less energy required less gas required.
3.Better AT tranny (for CVT) smooth/seemless ang shifting ng gears plus programmed on lower revs. Lagi nasa optimum level ang revs when increasing on infinite gear. Meaning walang excess revs walang excess gas. Sa MT as mentioned above has longer gearing
My take
riding comfort + looks + budget + resale value go for wigo
Dislike: masyadong tipid ang look and feel ng interior
power + fc + warranty go for mirage
on other aspects they are even:
- gadgets
- safety
- looks
If you are planning to change a car after 5 years I'd suggest go for Wigo. If you are planning to keep it beyond 5 years, probably go for the mirage. Also if this is the only car that you have go for Mirage. If you are planning to use it as an alternate car for short drives and city driving go for wigo. You can always go for a 2nd hand mirage (1 year old) over a wigo kung mirage talaga gusto mo.
Thank you guys for the comments.
I really need it kasi ayoko na ulit magsisi. By the way it will be my 1st brand new car. Kung saka sakali.
Hi pinklife.
Nkapila nako sa wigo. Sbe sa akin ng friend at the same time s.a ko is by monday daw dating ng wigo. Bka by tuesday or monday makuha ko na.
Nakakalito.
Keyless entry and with abs na ba ang 2014 mirage glx? I've been scouting for compact cars for me and my kid kasi and i've decided to go with wigo because of these features na wala sa glx, like immobilizer, alloy rims, all powered window and side mirrors, fog lamps, and touch panel (sweet)
Pink, my take mirage na kunin mo dami na kasi feedback from users/owners.
I am not against the wigo pero IMHO, di ako fanatic ng bagong model. I always wait so that I can evaluate it if it is within my specification/expectation.
I am not saying to say sablay ang gen3 and it proves na same reliability sila ngayon after of almost a year paglaunch niya its just that buti na lang nagkaganoon.
Di ba may isang brand na hanep sa reviews at tipid pero in real world scenario parang SUV kumunsumo ng gas.
No offense meant sa wigo owners. I like the wigo honestly, its just that this is my opinion sa mga bagong model and same applies sa pagbili ng CP and other things.

Thanks for sharing this...kaya nalilito na tlaga aq kasi ang ganda talga ng revirw ng mirage...parang if bibili ka ng mirge hindi ka magsisi kasi ang dami ng happy na owners based sa reviews...ang wigo cinonsider ko kasi mura tapos toyota though rebadge na toyota lng..sabi nila fuel efficient dn daw kasi daw 1.0 lng makina...pati yung SA ng mirage sabi nila mas fuel efficient dw wigo..hahay nkakalito..kaya naghihintay aq ng mga reviews from the owners of wigo...
IMO
If we are comparing Toyota G AT to Mitsubishi Mirage here are my inputs
Gadgets = Toyota (Mirage GLX's rearseat does not have power windows)
Safety Feature = Toyota (Mirage GLX does not have disabling system and ABS)
FC = Mirage (Based on reviews here and reviews in Mirage forums kaya mag 20km/l ng mirage)
Power = Mirage (Toyota only has 1.0L engine but if you are after power might as well wait for the Yaris)
Comfort = Toyota (rear suspension of Mirage is too soft)
Space = Toyota (even if mirage is slightly bigger, mas roomy ang Wigo)
Other note:
GLX does not have rear spoilers with third brake light which IMO is a must for small cars as a safety feature to signal bigger vehicles from behind
Between Mirage GLX and Wigo G AT, i'd go for Toyota Wigo G AT
Sir Manerve na test drive mo na mirage MT?
