Hello tsikoteers! Im new here. Can i butt in? Actually manufacturers are not accurate when it comes to specs and data. Wala kasi agency or machines to check kung tama specs unless u will pay for it like in berrima and speedlab. They have dyno test. IMOH monty 2.5 is mas mabilis compare sa 2.5 fortuner. We have fortuner 2.5 matic and 2.5 monty matic. =)

There's no doubt about that. Hell, even a pair of donkeys are more powerful than the Fort 2.5. We're comparing the 3.0 Fort to the new 2.5 VGT model.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Include also the power to weight ratio. I think mas mabigat body ng monty compare sa toyota fortuner. =)

SAE (mostly for US, North America at kaalyadong market) at EEC (mostly European and European colony na market).

Just look for those 3 letters and the data MUST be accurate. Otherwise, manufacturer are NOT ALLOWED to use SAE or EEC marking sa kanilang marketing material kung hindi na verify at certified available and attainable ang power at torque curves.

By the way, kung may SAE or EEC marking ganito yan:
    A. From brake dyno ang data.
    B. Engine with flywheel lang ang nilalagay sa test stand kasama ng vital auxiliaries or yung mga component lang na kung wala ay di gagana ng maayos ang makina (like oil pump, coolant pump, alternator, etc.).
    C. Walang aircon freon compressor.
    D. Wala rin power steering pump during the test.

    1. Nasa operating condition (ambient temp, coolant temp, fuel temp and pressure and etc) at wala muna load ang makina.
    2. Then inaadjust ang accelerator/throttle hanggang marating ng makina ang rpm. let say 1500rpm (no load).

    8. Step 1 to 7 ay ginagawa ulet para sa next 100rpm (1600 rpm).

    9. Ang test/verification ay natatapos hanggang full na and accelerator or hanggang fully open na ang throttle or kapag umabot na sa limit (redline) ng manufacturer.

But there is still the problem of market-specific emissions compliance and fuel quality or type... which is why there is now the voluntary SAE J1349 standard which requires a certain fuel type, the proper "operating" oil level and tighter control of temperatures... as under SAE standards, you can still gain 5-15 hp from running lower oil levels or thinner oil and/or running higher octane fuels.

And even then, you can't be sure whether the numbers quoted are for the local car or for other markets, as local dealerships don't actually have the equipment to test engines but rely on estimates from the plant. Sometimes rough estimates, as some engines are detuned for the local market in deference to the quality of the fuel we have here.

Thus... the only really telling number is trap speed in the quarter mile... because you can't fake that.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    Yes
    Very much agree

    Like I said na rin

    "certified available and attainable"

Medyo marami kasi yang operating conditions noh... heheh

Downside of having a diesel engine like 2.5d4d and 2.5 4d56 is maintainance. Kailangan alaga sa change oil otherwise headache. Cost of the Spare parts are much higher compare to gasoline engines. Most of the diesel engines today are very sensitive especially the SCV and EGR( madumi kasi gasoline stations sa atin thats why mabilis masira ito SCV at nag clogged EGR) unlike the old diesel engines, wala sila install na ganitong technology kaya mausok diesel engines. SCV are very costly.

I observed also that both engines (d4d & 4d56)are noisy compare to hyundai diesel engine na mas refined.

it's like a meduim size LandCruiser 200 with a twist of alphard (lc200 headlights with a alphard grills somethin' like that), even the rear profile, the tailights, lc200 inspired, may essence talaga ng Landcruiser pagtinignan mo, hehehe!!!!

Feature wise, Montero Sport wins in that department. Acceleration, di muna ako magcocomment as I have not driven the new 3.0 Fort and the GTV Montero Sport yet. Ride, no comment din muna as I have not ridden the new Fort yet. Looks, I only like the new rims.
