I'm looking into buying a 2nd hand Yaris 1.5 M/T. The asking price is 590K.

Is this a good price for this type of car?
Do you have any idea about the fuel efficiency (km/liter) of the Yaris?

    Thanks in advance!

What year is it? It cost Php 713,000 when new.

Depending on the year it was purchased, the discount varies, with the later year models getting a bigger discount amount (bec. it recently received a facelift).

Haggle it down mataas pa yan! I assume that is the pre-facelifted model pa. I bought one new before the facelift came and it was selling only for P643,000 less P70K from the sticker price... Yes it went that low just before the facelift came... IMO pefect time to buy NEW...

As for fuel efficiency, I get 13km/L or higher 12's on Quezon City driving. Dumadaan pa nga ako sa Quezon Ave. around 9AM so that gives you an idea. Pero 2000RPM-2500RPM shift na ako and by 65km/h naka 5th gear na ako...

It's a 2008 model sir. Therefore, 590k is about 82% of the current model 2010 Yaris if bought brand-new. Is this a good depreciation percentage for buying this car?

Thanks for the input. anong taon model po yung Yaris nung nabili ninyo ng 70K less?

Magkano kaya ang magandang tawad dun sa 590K?

June 4, 2009. They were just clearing stock of old Yaris (I nitially wanted white, wala ng white and ended up with red). July 2009 the facelift version was released...

Tawaran mo ng P520K, syempre di papayag yun... Siguro the most talaga I would pay for it is P530K and that's it... Kasi P643K at one point brand new, and that's 2 years... But that's me...

You did not mention the current mileage. Are you sure its not a flooded unit?

Depreciation should be based on the price of the unit at the time of purchase (brand new).
So Unit SRP of Php 713K (less avg dealer discount of 30K-40K). then less 25% off depreciation (avg of 20-30%). It should come out something like 510K. But the seller will probably let it go for Php 550-560K (if you haggle well).

The mileage is around 16,xxx. I think it's not a flooded unit because it is in Mindanao :D but I'll also take that into consideration. Thanks for mentioning.

That's not so bad, so I assume nasa Mindanao ka din? Baka iba din kasi market dyan sa Mindanao eh compared to Metro Manila... Kasi depende din sa demand/supply ng isang lugar...

If its mindanao, you can forget about the dealer discount as this is off-set by the freight costs. Try to haggle it to 570K. I doubt they would lower the price very much esp. if its one of the few being sold. Its also supply and demand.

Yes I'm also here in Mindanao. So you're saying there's a possibility that location also plays a role in the pricing..?

Ok thanks for the input. I'll try to get offer something lower and see where it goes. We'll be meeting the owner tomorrow and be doing a preliminary check on the car. If we like it, then I might check the car a second time with a mechanic

I was able to test-drive and visually-check the car yesterday. I was impressed how clean it looked, althought here were minor scratches in the paint particularly in the area where you pump in the gasoline, but no problem for me. Over-all it was very very clean and still looked new. It appears na maalaga yung owner. Lady-owned kasi atsaka first owner pa sya. The engine was so quiet ang hirap malaman kung nakabukas na ang engine kung di mo titignan yung RPM dial. Ang tahimik din sa loob, di marinig yung mga ingay sa labas.

I just noticed something though. Medyo matagtag yung ride. Not sure kung sa kalsada or sa suspension talaga ng car ganon ang response.

So the question is, for the Yaris owners here... medyo matagtag ba talaga ang Yaris i-drive?

As compared to sedans...hatchbacks often are like that. Compared though with the Jazz which I test drove, the Yaris' ride IMO is a bit better.

Yes mas matagtag talaga ang Yaris compared to say a Vios... Roughly kasing tagtag ng Honda Civic FD...

I never found the Yaris 'tagtag'. In fact, it's much softer than the previous Honda Jazz and the older Echo.

Too bad I no longer have the original picture set. In one pic, the front bumper is scraping against the ground and a rear tire is three inches in the air. We didn't use it because it was woefully out of focus... but when shrunk to that size ^ it may not have mattered.

Probably not as soft as the 1.3 Vios, but not bad. Similar to the 1.5 Vios.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Are minor paint scratches included in the Toyota warranty? Is the service center obligated to fix those scratches if the car is still within the warranty period?
