Let me answer your first question, yes nag driving school ako,

Before answering your other question, truthfully sir may binanggit ba yung driving school mo about this particular issue?

one almost sideswiped me a couple of months ago one night, in northbound slex.
the dark-colored adventure was following the ambulancia's zipper, and we almost hit it, as the zipper was closing after the ambulance had passed...

Blinking lights draw unnecessary attention, and hinders a driver's ability to quickly determine the vehicle's speed because the light source isn't constant.

So nakikita ka nga, pero hindi maanticipate ng oncoming driver kung gaano kabilis takbo mo, kung liliko ka, o kung pumipreno ka na pala.

Having your headlamps and tail lamps on is enough to provide visibility in the rain. If you have rear fog lamps, they're useful in very heavy downpour (but should be turned off any other time).

Hazards-while-driving is as misguided as flat-earth and anti-vax.

Yes in the sense that all 3 are examples of false equivalence.

While there are proponents to both sides, one is rooted in proven science while the other is based on personal preference so they're not equal.

ako pag nagthankyou eh usually bukas bintana tapos taas kamay ko gesture or usually sa windshield kasi wala ako tint dahil puhgeee naman eh. Eh ako most of the time napagbibigyan kasi hindi naman ako apurado and i usually antay makalagpas lahat bago ako umandar so in turn the universe tells the other driver to give way to me. .

(eh alam nyo naman na gasolina sedan boy ako so its not my cup of tea)

So pag malakas ang ulan eh naghahanap ako ng fuel station to stay muna.

Sir jut naman, false equivalence? All 3? 2 can be proven by facts, the other one is by opinion. Unless you truly believe flat earthers really and really , for dear life, believe our planet is flat. If you believe so, that's another story.

Brother, the use of hazard lights while driving is against the law in majority of the US, in UK, and in many European countries.

Hazard Light Use - AAA Digest of Motor Laws

Is it illegal to drive with your hazard lights on? Leaving them flashing could see you fined for careless driving

The science, I've explained already - while hazard lights are effective in drawing attention, they also hinder distance/speed perception because they're blinking. That's why western countries with snow (worse visibility than rain) require rear fog lamps that are steadily on and not blinking.

That's what I like about pinoys. Mas magagaling pa sa mga car designers and engineers. Akalain mo mas alam pa nila na hinde sila visible at kailangan pa gumamit ng hazard sa ulan.

my favorite is still the headlights upgrade following the front windshield tint.
my second favorite is the blinking brake lights and/or blacked-out rear lights.
the oversize rear spoiler-cum-pushcart handle is my runner-up. holy 1970 plymouth superbird! it always brings a smile to my face.

Isama mo na rin yung chrome or matte trimmings overload. Hehehe

I agree those blinking brake lights are just annoying.

I saw a colorum UV van (HiAce Grandia) with matte trimmings overload plus blinking brake lights and with a spoiler. It is just plain hideous. Even worse akala nila mabilis sila tumakbo. It was trying to cut into my lane (rightmost lane) as I was merging into SLEX from Sucat. Well, it was slower than our ASX.

Car Engineers and designers once placed the turn signal control lever to the right of the steering wheel. Genius noh.

Wow you guys, ok lang sa inyo gamitin hazard lights to say thank you, pero sa real hazardous scenario, bawal gamitin ito?

Visibility? Jusko obviusly visible Talaga meron hazard lights kesa wala. Ogag lang magsabi otherwise.

Confusing? Confuse ka eh chaotic na nga nangyayari, it's heavy downpour and low visibility. You really have to slow the f down. Hindi big factor confusing dun kase dapat mabagal kayo.

Hazard lights would mean, everything is not normal, every vehicle may abnormally stop, turn or swerve. Hazardous kase?

Then again, I'm talking if heavy downpour and low visibility here. One instance, it saved me from bumping the car in front of me because of hazard lights.

This thread is amusing. Ayaw ng backed by scientific research. Ayaw ng nasa exam ng LTO. Sama na rin natin DMV. General consensus among Tsikoteers--which I would say have a much higher than average road IQ--di rin acceptable.

Reminds me of my favorite Sheldon Cooper.

As he would say, "there, there."
