Well not everyone but these guy did the right thing, and those damned jeepneys should all be out of the road permanently

MMDA Traffic Officer Files Criminal Charges Vs. Jeepney Driver A Traffic Operations Officer of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has formally filed criminal charges against an erring jeepney driver for attempted bribery.
TOO4 Romeo S. Galo filed a case against Joel S. Romualdo in violation of Article 212 in relation to Article 210 of the Revised Penal Code for Corruption of a Public Official.
The case stemmed from an incident which occurred on the morning of October 1, 2009 at Edsa (Southbound) corner Estrella Street in Makati City.
On the said date, TOO4 Galo, together with Traffic Enforcer Romeo Estañol, spotted a number of public utility jeepneys setting up an illegal terminal near the bus loading / unloading bay at the Estrella intersection, thereby causing traffic at the area.

Accordingly, said traffic enforcers approached the jeepney drivers to apprehend them for their illegal practice. Unlike other drivers who voluntarily surrendered their licenses, Romualdo tried to escape apprehension by speeding away his jeepney with plate number TYG-112.
Unfortunately for Romualdo, the traffic enforcers were able to block his way. When the enforcers asked for his license, Romualdo attempted to bribe them by inserting a P100.00-bill inside the jacket of his license. It was at this point that TOO4 Galo arrested him and brought him to the Security Intelligence and Investigation Office of the MMDA for questioning.
Angelito Vergel De Dios, Executive Director of the Traffic Operations Center commended the action taken by Galo and ordered the immediate filing of the case.
“This goes to show that the MMDA is serious in its anti-bribery campaign. I hope this serves as a warning to errant drivers,” De Dios said.
Recently, Chairman Bayani Fernando launched a campaign against bribery. He said licenses of drivers caught giving bribe money will be suspended.

The black sheep of the family. What about those MMDA officers waiting at Julia Vargas cor. San Miguel Ave. Or those under the Ortigas flyover. Or those along Shaw blvd. I could go on and on about where I've seen MMDA officials doing the nasty.

It's 1 vs hundreds.

Those that you mentioned are actually the real "black sheep" of the MMDA family. Well not really "black sheep", I like to call em the "gremlins" cos they spread a lot faster, you know why? Cos people and "hecklers" who saw them do bad and or corrupt deeds do not alert nor report to their chief on what they are doing, especially if they already know who they are or have evidence against them. These actions makes those uncorrupted one think that crime pays.

So since you knew where they are and or what they look like, I suggest you call the MMDA , like the
Public Affairs Office 882-0861 loc 312 or
MMDA cellphone: 0920-9471632 /
09175618709

Unless you're one of those people I mentioned who isn;t willing to change.

How dare he generalize the good MMDA officer's action to apply for all other MMDA officers.

Sana dumami sila for our own sake.

They bungled up the traffic bigtime last Saturday,- like we were at a standstill for 30minutes in one intersection....

. . . if this one's genuine, Mr. Galo will be the "saving grace" of the corrupt-stricken MMDA.

hindi ba mas ok na gawing official barker ang mga MMDA? kung baga kung walang sasakay o bababa i-enforce nila na mag-go na yung jeep. pero pag may sasakay o bababa give them time. hindi your huhuluhin pa nila eh haharang lang din sa daan yun eh. tapos hindi na nya mababantayan yung ibang jeep. it will cause traffic din.

I suggest to write a formal complaint to MMDA dept. Mr. Galo about this. In that small way we can prevent those scum from giving MMDA a bad name din diba.. Not that I'm part of any gov't offices, but I do want to lessen those corrupt people in our country one person at a time. And if a lot of people do these kinds, like writing a formal letter of complaint - it will be lessening corrupt people one person every minute.. Lets be proactive not reactive guys

I assume you're either a jeep operator or related to the jeepney industry..
I believe that "barker" are not part of the MMDA traffic aids job description, maybe they could make a new job for that, but for the traffic aid to do that - naaah..
Panget parin, yung pasahero can get down anywhere - anytime - anyplace. It will still cause traffic and that kind of actions are very very inconsiderate for other motorist. I suggest that the Jeepneys must have, and should have their own loading and unloading waiting stations just like the busses.. Similar to what other countries are doing, such as Korea - Japan - Taiwan- and most western countries.Ask help from them(other countries) in developing the system even. And if this idea has been executed, jeeps shouldn't pick up nor let their riders go down anywhere except in their pick up & drop off stations. These will lessen traffic congestion by at least 24%
in my rough estimate, effective immediately.
Agree??

You sir are displaying a negative thinking, some what - what a "heckler" would say. That kind of attitude should be frowned, avoided, and tabooed by the society. Which sadly they do not. They encouraged, even.
tsk tsk

I have to agree to this. What should happen is that they follow up, else they'll look like pathetic opportunist for a lil lime light

nag-commute ako minsan nakatsikot. para sa kin ok lang mag baba anywhere at anytime as long na itatabi ng maayos yung jeep to giveway sa ibang motorist. ang problem sa loading stations satin ginagawa nilang terminal kung walang pasahero nasasakay alis na dapat.

sa ibang country. hindi ako sure ha. I think gov't nagooperate ng bus. so walang agawan sa kita. which I think mahirap I implement dito.

IMHO I think mas may silbi MMDA as a barking or a scarecrow na nakikita ng mga driver.
