MANILA, Philippines – The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has announced a 10-percent cut on toll charged from the Alabang to Calamba segment of the South Luzon Expressway effective immediately.
“This is a welcome development (for) our motorists since it will also help mitigate the effect of the increases of fuel prices,” said Transportation Secretary Leandro Mendoza.
He added that the toll cut was “due to the strengthening of the peso against the dollar.”
Mendoza said the government would continue to provide effective and efficient transport services responsive to the needs of the public.

Can someone clarify this? Based on the news, there's a cut on toll charges from the Alabang to the Calamba segments of the SLEX.... So, let's say you come from Nichols/C-5 and you exit at Susana Heights or Santa Rosa (both of which are past Alabang but before Calamba), how will the charges be calculated? Would that mean that the toll charges equivalent to the distance from Nichols/C-5 to Alabang will remain unchanged but the charges equivalent to the distance from Alabang to Susana Heights or Santa Rosa will be reduced by 10%?
I'm asking this because when I came from C-5 a while ago and exited at Susana Heights, I still paid the same P69.00 that I usually pay.... I'm not really complaining, especially since the only portion apparently affected by the tollprice cut would be the Alabang to Susana Heights portion... but it would still be nice if they could clarify things for everyone...

bakit from Alabang to Calamba lang? if it was due to peso strong than dollar...dapat the whole stretch of SLEX. Niloloko lang tayo...its not the exchange rate...its because of the constructions that are on-going...after that..it will increase much more than expected. style tlga.

Palace bares Metro water rate, SLEX toll cuts

MANILA, Philippines -- Malacañang announced on Thursday a reduction in water rates in Metro Manila and surrounding provinces, and a 10-percent decrease in toll rates at the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).
The reduction in water rates, effective April 1, is due to the strengthening of the peso, which has brought down the foreign exchange losses water concessionaires pass on to their customers, the Palace said in a statement.
The water rate adjustment will be on top of the 20-percent reduction for low-end customers, which took effect earlier this week, it said.
The stronger peso placed the Foreign Currency Differential Adjustment (FCDA) of Manila Water Co. Inc. (MWCI) at -P0.62, and that of Maynilad Water Services Inc. (MWSI) at -P0.34, it said.
With the adjustment, MWSI customers who pay P502.36 per month will now pay P498.63, down P3.74; semi-business customers who pay P677.85 will pay P672.70, down P5.14; business group 1 subscribers who pay P4,798.55 will pay P4,761.02, down P37.53; while business group customers who pay P5,198.56 will pay P5,148.89, down P40.67.
On the other hand, MWC customers with a monthly consumption of 10 cubic meters will pay P86.94 instead of P88.43, down P1.49; those with a monthly consumption of 20 cubic meters will pay P190.99 instead of P194.31, down P3.31; those with a monthly consumption of 30 cubic meters will pay P388.25 instead of P395.01, down P6.76; while those with a monthly consumption of 100 cubic meters will pay P2,347.72 instead of P2,388.75, down P41.03.
The toll rates in the SLEX were slashed to P0.756 per kilometer from P0.84 per kilometer effective March 9 so motorists could benefit from "improving economic conditions," the Palace said.
This would translate to a reduction in toll fees from Alabang to Calamba from P24 to P22 for Class 1 vehicles, P48 to P43 for Class 2 vehicles, and P72 to P65 for Class 3 vehicles.

kalokohan yan! if they are really concern sa mga southern motorist dapat yun stretch ng Nichols to Alabang ang bawasan...
the triumph of man over... man!, using the crudest of implements (by modern standards).
Traffic!
