Pinay helper in Singapore inherits millions from employer

    07/21/2010 | 03:48 PM

A Filipina domestic helper in Singapore has inherited some P200 million and a posh apartment from her recently deceased employer whom she had served for more than two decades, a Singaporean newspaper reported Wednesday.

The 47-year-old helper, who was asked to be nicknamed "Christine" for fear of threats to her life, inherited S$6 million and a luxury apartment near the Orchard Road shopping belt from her employer Quek Kai Miew, according to a report by The Straits Times.

Miew, a doctor and philanthropist who died last year, chose "Christine" as one of her beneficiaries when she drew up her will two years ago, the newspaper reported.

"I am the luckiest maid in Singapore, with or without the money," Christine told The Strait Times.

Cristine said she was not surprised when she learned about the fortune she will be receiving. "There were no secrets between us. I was not surprised at all when she told me how much I was going to get," she said.

Christine, in fact, also took care of Miew’s late mother, and has been serving the family since 1986.

She likewise said that she would be applying for a permanent residency in Singapore, although she promised that her new-found wealth would not change her lifestyle.

"I do not really think much about the money I got. I just live my life as I did before, and not as a rich person," she said.

About 1,500 Filipinas are currently working in Singapore as domestic helpers based on latest government records. - Andreo C. Calonzo/RJAB Jr/KBK, GMANews.TV

    haha

    Oo, tama...

mga 5 daughters... or 8 hehe

invest ko pera ko gatas, pagkain, vitamins, gamot

palakihin ko sila healthy... hanggang 18 yrs. old

    then padala ko sa abroad

sana maka-asawa ng mayaman or maka-inherit ng kayamanan tulad nung nasa article

    long term bet yan

    hindi daytrading

    btw...

risk: baka bago ko mapadala sa abroad, maligawan ng tambay... mabuntis

wala pa returns investment ko may added cost na (grandchildren)

    so dapat bantayan mabuti

    hehehe

good for her. she deserves it. i just hope she doesn't change, unlike some people i know who just got ahead of others, kung umasta kala mo kung sino eh galing din naman sa hirap.
