^That's like 5 Rafales or F-35's already.
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?
We can't jump to those fighters without having advanced trainers first.
It's like riding a bike then go drive a super car.
After those FA-50's then we can go for a better, fighter jet.
AFP/PAF's going bang for the buck, you get an advanced trainer and a light fighter/bomber in one package.

Medyo malayo. Parang 5110 vs iPhoneOur flyboys and flygirls need something to practice on before graduating to true-blue fighters. Hence the FA50.

Parang analog vs digital hehe. Problem pa natin is logistics/ after service. Mahal mag maintain ng ganitong air craft. Much cheaper siguro kung missile na lang ang develope natin![]()
Logistics, training for both pilots and maintenance, and spare parts for a few years are part of the contract. We're not just buying the planes. We're buying the whole package
Missiles cannot patrol. Firing a missile is an act of war. And what happens if an airliner is misidentified?

Deym leave some money for a bundle of Exocets. Don't care for overpriced aircraft but they better make sure whatever aircraft they get is capable of carrying Exocets.
There's a source online which says that a variant of the Maverick, the AGM 65F is the anti-ship version being used by the US Navy. The max effective range is about 22 km, so it's not quite long range.
We should have moderate expectations with the Golden Eagle jets since its primary purpose is for training. Its ability to mount more sophisticated missiles doesn't make it a frontline fighter or one intended for interdiction missions.

Since the Golden Eagle is a bastard twin of the F-16... It may be modified carry the AGM 84 Harpoon anti-ship missle. Cost of one missle= USD 1 million a pop.

The Harpoon is also almost twice as heavy as the Maverick which further degrades the FA50's already unimpressive range.
Yep it's a trainer that also happens to be able to carry missiles, radar, and a gun. Vote wisely if you want the PAF to get an MRF as it is slated to be purchased in the next administration ;)
