Actually I just don't know if this is the proper forum but we drivers/riders tend to bash and remember those motorists who cut-off a lane in front of us or piss us off in one way or another and we better remember them and have the good guys go unnoticed. So this time, why don't we list down those motorists whom have pleased us to give them good credits though they don't know it. So to start it off, I was riding along C-5 avenue, and I noticed, this taxi, chopping off a lane, to pass the taxi, since I do not turn my head lights off (I'm riding a motorcycle), what I did is I flashed my high beams intermittently aiming for his left rear view mirrors and the taxi gave the entire lane for me.

Second, I was cruising along NLEX, and I was going like 110 or 120, then I had to slow down for there's a closed van in the fast lane doing 90-100 approximately. though there's no more lane left on my left hand side, rather than passing from the right hand side of the van, I had my turn signal on the left and tried to focus my left head lamps on his left rear view mirrors, and I tried signalling my intentions to pass him by blinking my head lights (this time I'm on a car) and luckily though closed van drivers are known to stick on the fastest lane though trudging, but to my surprise, he turned is turn signal to the right and switched lane to the right and gave the fast lane for me.

Next up, early this morning I was riding my motorcycle to work, and as Buendia ave. is all congested so I was passing in between gaps and there was this CR-V on my left and I stopped along the right hand side of the CR-V for I know that my side mirrors are about to hit the CR-V's right-hand-side mirror and my throttle grip might touch the car's surface on my right hand side leaving a scratch and to my surprise, though I didn't insisted, the driver of the CR-V full-steered to his left to widen the gap for me and my bike to pass by.

And there are lots of other drivers who pleased me on the road though I can no longer remember the most of them so any stories similar to these? :D

Usually in heavy traffic areas where all cars are stopped, and a guy on a motorcycle is trying to squeeze between the space between my back bumper n the other car behind me to get to the other side, i usually scoot up a little bit for him.

And of course, if there are chicks trying to cross, I will stop for them so they could cross in front of me haha. One girl was trying to cross to Robinsons Imus and she was in the median, i let her pass and she got bashful n shy.

It just turned green and the taxi behind us beeped kagad, "beep beep, beeeep". I looked, frowned and just went and made a right at the intersection. Wife was pissed but I told her to calm down, ganyan talaga ang mga taxi driver kako.

Turns out he passed the gas station onto the lane I was going into, and was already there when I made the right turn. But he was between the lanes and was driving so sloooow.

So, being the nice guy, I also returned the favor: "beep beep, beeeep" and passed him as soon as he yielded.

Was so surprised yesterday, I didn't move for a full second.

Crossing an intersection, after 2 or 3 cars sped up and refused to let me cross (the usual no-taking-turns-attitude)... For the 1st time in my life, a 10-wheeler truck stopped 10 ft. away from my car, yielding right-of-way to me and allowing me to drive across... without me having to stick my car's nose in his lane, honk my horn, or perform any of the other antics necessary when crossing...

    May pagasa ang bansa natin...

Marami pa naman talagang courteous driver sa kalye...just don't forget to acknowledge them by flashing your lights or raising your hand to say "thanks"! May their tribe increase!

Yup, please acknowledge the courtesy given to you. A wave of the hand, a thumbs up sign ... even a smile. It makes the courteous driver feel good and do it more often. And the more often that driver do it, the more chances others will do the same.

An old man in his car almost sideswiped mine while exiting a roundabout. He was on the wrong lane to make the exit turn. Fortunately, I was able to react on time, braking and giving a blast of the horn. After the usual "%$*£ senile driver"-muttering, I quickly went on my way. Through the mirrors, I saw him follow me right to the parking lot where I went. And then he approached me. And I got ready.

And then he said, "I'm terribly sorry, mate. I didn't see you when I made the turn".

I didn't expect that. I can only answer back "You almost gave me a heart attack back there, but everything's alright".

And with that, we parted ways.

So I take back what I muttered. He's not a %$*£'er, he's actually a nice guy. Decent enough to say sorry when he got the chance.

    But he is senile :evillaugh

nakakaguilty lang minsan kapag nagsorry yung isa pero prior to that nagalit ka. bilib ako sa mga tao na nagacknowledge na pagkakamali nila sa kalye.

Hi, in my case today it's not a mr. Nice Guy actually more of ms. Nice Gal Driving along mc Kinley crossing Dasma intersection. I was on Mc kinley and they're exiting DVA, usually family drivers are aggressive merging with mc Kinley traffic but this lady in a silver Pajero waved and let me go ahead, I waved back in gesture of thank you. My apologies though things went smoothly I forgot her plate number.

Might be the same guy who let me and my grandaunt cross Dimasalang.

Our subdivision is located along a busy road, so often in the morning it can be a pain having to wait at the gate, waiting for other vehicles, especially tricycles, to let us pass on our way out. But once in a while, a generous motorist will stop a short distance away, just long enough to let me cross the road and be on my way. Those I acknowledge with even a slight wave through my window.

    1) these things should not be surprising, it's what civilized people do. it's what we EXPECT of our fellow motorists

    2) generally, i give way to others because the stress of panggigitgit is not worth the few seconds or minutes saved. yun nga lang, kupal talaga mga PUV so pag sa kanila, lots of times i don't give way to them if i have the right of way.

The problem is, we cannot expect these things to some of our fellow motorists for there are a lot of uncivilized road users out there, though assuming that everybody we see on the road are civilized I'd agree that these things should not be surprising and we expect positive things towards our fellow motorists.

maybe it's just that I'm a biker as well aside from being a car buff, we're always expecting negative things towards other road users (either a car or another bike, or any other vehicle out there) so as to visualize and initiate an escape route in case another motorist does something very stupid in front of us, (whether I drive or ride)...

oh I remember this nice guy I met, he's a trucker driving a 6x6 truck so this is how it went, back then 2003, bago pa mabenta yung auto ko no'n, nagpagas kami sa Ligaya, Marcos Hiway, yung generic gas station do'n (katitipid kasi lalong nagkandaloko-loko) tapos, pagdating namin ng katips, bumaba ang menor ng makina at naging maugong whereas kahit owner-type-jeep lang yon 'di naman naugong eh, so inadjust ko ,pagdating ng NLEX, walang hatak ang auto pahirapan umabot ng 60kph, tapos natirikan kami sa San Ildefonso, then sa San Miguel bulacan, by the time we reached San Miguel bulacan the engine refuses to start, I checked the spark plugs and they were doing fine and the starter has started emitting fumes showing signs of giving up, so prior to that, I already thought that there might be something wrong with the carburetor BUT, as far as my knowledge si concerned, nothing's gonna go wrong with the carb so I decided to try hitching somebody's ride, to get to the nearest gas station so I emptied my reserve radiator gallon and brought it along with me, the place is pitch black and no houses around there are rice fields left and right, I left my sister and two other cousins one is a male in the jeep and I tried hitchin' a ride, an SUV passed by though I assumed he won't let me ride on his precious Prado, and there was this 6x6 truck, and the truck stopped, "manong pwede makisakay? hanggang sa malapit na gas station?" manong replied: "diesel ba yan? kung gusto mo pahiramin kita!" "hindi po eh" and so we went, they dropped me of at the nearest Petron station to my surprise, galing din pala ng Pasig yung truck na nagpahitch sa 'kin sabi ko kasi I'm from Pasig as well, tapos on my way back I hired a tricycle special trip pabalik sa auto, pagdating sa auto 'di pa kami iniwan ng tricycle, medyo malayo rin ang byahe pero 40 petot lang ang siningil sa 'kin inilawan pa 'ko habang kinakabit ko yung container na pinaglagyan ko ng gas using his headlamp and so after no'n umandar na ang auto then we proceeded to petron to flush all the gasoline left in the tank and I returned the suction hose to the fuel line from the container I used tapos yun na umandar na ulit ang auto... ang bait nu'ng trucker saka nu'ng tricycle driver, sana dumami pa sila, :D

Nung palabas ako sa isang gas station, I had to cross an oncoming traffic (2 lanes) to turn left. Since the first lane was open, naipasok ko yung kotse agad, but on the second lane, may dumating na car and blocked my way, di naman intention nung guy makipag unahan, or harangin ako, he just didn't see me. I got a little nervous since I thought I'd create a traffic once the red signal turned green. But to my surprise, the car in front of me backed out to let me through, though there was no car behind him, but still hindi normal sa mga motorists yung aatras ng ganon, about 1 car yung inatras nya para di ako mahirapan mag maneuver. I waved and smiled at him, too bad sira yung power window ko at the time, babaan ko sana ng window para magpasalamat.

Guys how do you display a gesture of apology ba? I'd always say "soooorrryy" hoping they'd read my lips.

Dapat ata magkaroon din ng thread about really bad gasoline stations to avoid.

PROVIDED they signal na lilipat sila.

kapag pinagbigyan ako ng tao kung liliko ako, i make it a point to wave at the person ang smile. parang "thank you" na din. sad to say, very seldom ko ito nagagawa kasi sobra barumbado mga driver dito.

It is actually the pedestrian who should go first, kapag nasa pedestrian lane sila.

Pinauna ko yung isang tatawid one time. Nice Guy? haha oh well...

    (only in da philippines)

I share the exact same sentiments.
