In Fairview, pump prices have big differences, but you should look at the price-offs that Petron/Shell offers. Net difference would be less than a peso vs smaller players (except Uno Fuel which is always 2 pesos lower than everyone else).

Kalokohan.

Higher trade area prices = higher company margins.

Simple answer bro - maraming kalabang independent. Worst offender is Uno Fuel near North Fairview, mas mababa ng 2 pesos lagi price even against other independents. Then there's one of each small player - Seaoil, Unioil, PTT, etc. Not to mention the unbranded ones.

There are a lot of other places in the Metro with a lot of stations in a small trade area, but what makes Fairview suitable for a price war is because the prices won't creep to the rest of QC. This is because after Batasan/Litex (Commonwealth Southbound), there are much fewer stations, with most being big players. These stations act as price stoppers by deliberately keeping prices at a higher level than Fairview's, so that the low prices are contained there.

Subic follows single pricing across all branded stations, which is why they avoid price wars. Petron is the market leader in the area, and the company would rather rake in huge margins than start a price war, since they know that their volume is secure regardless of price. Noone would dare cross Petron as they know that Petron can retaliate with double their discount and drive them out of business if it really wanted to.

If you want low prices en route to Subic, fill up at Dinalupihan or Lubao. These 2 adjacent towns offer the cheapest prices in Central Luzon.

This is true Uno Fuel is always 2 peso sometimes 3 peso lower compare to big 3 and 1 to 2 peso lower for small player like seaoil ptt ect. But i never tried to fuel up there haha medyo mababa na ata un ron nila dun eh compare to ptt 97ron.

Total along EDSA southbound before Pioneer still has P2.00/liter anniversary discount for all fuel variants, PLUS a FREE minute maid juice. Got a fill there this morning. So Excellium 95-RON is effectively P37.70

Mura talaga diyan sa Total EDSA Boni. But even with the low price and promo, talong talo siya ng Petron and Shell before it, and the Caltex after it. Ang panget kasi ng location, too near Boni MRT and always blocked by buses. Plus, walang tagos to the side street unlike Petron and Shell.

Hehe.

In Lubao, if you're coming from SF and you take the Lubao bypass road, Total will be to your left, about 1 km away from the intersection of the bypass road and OG road.

In Dinalupihan, there's a Shell station right as you enter the town proper. However, you won't be able to pass it if you take SCTEX Dinalupuihan to Tipo (which is the fastest way since OG is being repaired).

No Caltex in the entire area.

So better to just fill up at Total Lubao.

Is the gas station business proftable even without renting spaces to restaurants etc?

Depends. ROI for a dealer-owned station (you pay for the building, pumps, tanks) is about 3 years if it's a good location, could take over 5 years if the station doesn't generate good volume in a sub-optimal location.

Key thing to note is you have to have land. Renting out land is exorbitantly expensive inside Manila, and even in the province, it'll eat up a big chunk of your PnL.

A company-owned station requires less capital as you just need to fund the fuel you'll be selling.

Nung may naka kwentohan akong gas station owner. Never daw aabut ng 1 peso.. They get gas station kasi marami silang truck na pang deliver kaysa sa iba pa sila mag pa gas..
