Oil companies reduced prices of their gasoline and kerosene products by P1.00 to P2.00 per liter starting Friday afternoon as world crude prices continued to go down.
Independent player Flying V was the first to implement a price cut, reducing the price of their gasoline products by P1.00 per liter at 3 p.m. Friday.
Seaoil will follow suit at 10 p.m. by reducing prices of its gasoline and kerosene products by P2.00 and P1.00 per liter respectively.
Pilipinas Shell, Petron, and Chevron are set to implement a P1.00 per liter rollback in their gasoline and kerosene products at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, to be followed by Total Philippines and Eastern Petroleum at 6 a.m.
Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes, meanwhile, criticized oil companies and liquefied petroleum gas players Friday for failing to slash LPG prices drastically despite a significant drop in world contract prices.
"There's nothing wrong with earning but don't be greedy. If the prices go down, you should follow," Reyes told representatives of oil companies at a meeting at the Department of Energy on Friday.
He added that he will order an audit if LPG players fail to implement a higher price cut.
Since November 1, the LPG contract price has gone down by 39 percent.
Based on the DOE’s computations LPG players must reduce prices of their products by P12.00 per kilo or about P132.00 per LPG cylinder.
Oil players said they were slashing LPG prices gradually in the same manner that they gradually increased LPG prices when contract prices were high. Some representatives said they still have old LPG stocks, which were bought at higher prices.
"Our books our open, DOE already knows our pricing… there will be rollbacks but I cannot say when or how much," said Liquigaz senior marketing manager Jun Golingay said. With reports from Zen Hernandez and Alvin Elchico, ABS-CBN News

Sa akin di talaga kumikita ang big 3, I fill up on small players in Fairview. Anyway all pumping stations in QC are calibrated and certified by QC and sealed.
Kahit ano pang product sugar coating ang gawin ng big 3 sa mga commercials nila di ko naniniwala. Kasama na sa binabayaran ng mga nagpapakarga sa mga big 3 ang milyon-milyon ginagastos nila sa mass media ads. Small players can dramatically reduced their price because they don't spend on hefty ads.
