Filipina shines as CNN’s White House reporter

Filipina-American Elaine Quijano is one of CNN’s most important reporters, as she covers the most powerful head of state in the world.

Quijano is the White House correspondent for CNN responsible for covering the activities of the president and the administration, domestically and internationally. Named to this position in January 2006, she is based in the network’s Washington, D.C., bureau.

According to the CNN website, Quijano joined CNN Newsource in December 2000 as a Washington, D.C.-based correspondent and in 2004, became a general assignment correspondent for CNN/U.S.

Since 2000, Quijano has filed reports on such stories as the inauguration of President George W. Bush, Bush’s 2005 trips to Asia and Argentina, the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the Washington, D.C.-area sniper pursuit and capture as well as the continuing coverage of the ongoing war on terrorism.

Throughout the 2004 election year, Quijano traveled with Bush, covering the campaign trail, his time in Washington, D.C., Crawford, Texas and stops throughout the United States.

In the spring of 2003, Quijano traveled to Kuwait City, where she remained for one month to report on the war in Iraq for CNN. During September 2003, Quijano reported live as Hurricane Isabel lashed the North Carolina coastline, and in February 2003, she was part of the team of correspondents that covered the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy.

Quijano joined CNN Newsource after working as a general assignment reporter for WFTS-TV in Tampa, Fla. Before that, she worked as a reporter/producer for WCIA-TV in Champaign, Ill.

Quijano earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Illinois.

    Ooooh. Hello.

Champaign, Illinois.......... Collegetown aka Party-town galore. I have great memories of the place. In fact, that Malibu (Bay Lounge) strip bar I mentioned in one of the love/family threads elsewhere here was located just outside the city limits of Champaign-Urbana.

Oh that's right. We're talking about Elaine Q. Uh well, good for her! He He

Grabe talaga mga Pinoy sobra sa inferiority complex. Pansin lagi sa mga news even if there is a small amount of pinoy blood and may accomplishments nagiging news material na. The person probably hasn't even laid a foot in Philippine soil, can't speak any Filipino dialect, and probably doesn't even recognize his/her Filipino identity.

The article didn't mention her Filipino roots. If indeed she is 50% Filipino, well let's be proud of her Filipino parent...hehehe...
Anyway, she's another Maria Ressa in the making.

In threads like this, I don't really care what her heritage is. But, she is a looker and she looks really smart in that blazer. Va Va Voom. Hot Mama!

Maria Ressa may have more Pinay blood in her. But, she simply doesn't have the appeal of Elaine here.

Add: I tend to have favorites such as Sumi Das (who's now at the Bay Area's KTVU), the women of The Weather Channel, plus a few at CNN International.

    All hot mamas.

The first time i saw her on CNN about 2 years ago I already have in my mind that she's a Pinay. Even she had a spanish surname she looks so oriental. More power to her.
